Ted Lasso

Pretty average episode, almost bland but we'll have to wait as the rest of the cast get introduced in the next episode..

I found it just the same level of cringe as other seasons, but you cant judge it on that one opening (pretty weak sauce) opening episode.

Bit of a weak episode. Feels like some of the cast have forgot to play their characters.

Hopefully they’ll shake off the ring rust and get back to where it was

Its good to be back. It looks like the cast have slotted straight into their roles without any issue. The episode was fine and setting things up for his return to the Uk. Looks like his wife will join him too so that should be interesting if she and Sassy meet up!

That’s what I thought as well. Don’t understand the comment below, I thought they got them bang on, as though there’s not been a big gap between series.

The only one who I felt that hit the ground running was Higgins. Ted, Rebecca and especially Keeley did not feel like how they felt in the first 3 seasons. Either that or the writing was off as it didn't hit the same as the 'original' run.

I say that as someone who watched the first 3 seasons multiple times.

No discussion of the next two episodes?

I was not so keen on this returning but it's been great stuff so far. Changed enough to feel worth a new season but still with the familiar warmth and humour.

Because of :km:, we'd have won the pub quiz in episode 4.

When my grandson comes to stay with us, once a week, we play the CBeebies bedtime story of Goodnight Moon when he goes to bed. He likes who he calls "Purple Kylie".

Before discovering that, we'd never heard of Goodnight Moon.

I'll just get this out there - the show is getting a bit facepalm/cringey. I mean Ted Lasso (mens) was stupid in places but like I said earlier, Rebecca is just too comically OTT. On top of that we have a female superstar player who is just awful and swearing and giving mouth to the coach? Even Jamie wasn't that bad. Lots of forced expletives also just don't sit right with me.

Personally, I haven't started S4 yet. To me the original show was in the right place at the right time, COVID 19. We all needed some uplift in our lives and it hit the spot.

Most people are now back to their pre COVID ways, so artificially adding this 4th series was always gonna be tough.

I would be surprised if this wasn't the least viewed season, albeit those stats are never released.

I thought she was pure Deila Smith in episode 4.

I think it's still great, although a little bit down from the first three seasons. They left it first time at the perfect point, before it got stale, coming back they've freshened it up by switching teams but that's also meant we've lost a lot of the familiar supporting cast who'd been fleshed out over the first three seasons.

Thinking some more does anyone else feel Alice is really inconsistent? Like, in episode 1 she's super empathic to the injured girl and really behind the team but now she's a compete arse to them.

Yes it's pretty clumsy this series. I mean it's never been high art or anything, but it's a bit on the nose.

It's fine though, decent entertainment on an evening when I don't want brain engaged. Gags aren't landing like they used to, but I think it's just the format getting a bit tired.
