Teeth brushing in the morning

I've never understood people who brush their teeth before breakfast, I mean, what's the point? You clean them only to get them mucky again 5 minutes later! Seems daft to me.

Tell that to my misses - been having this battle for over 10 years :/

Another vote for 'After' :D

EDIT: I must reprogram my boys to enjoy their breakfast by always brushing afterwards

We need a poll.

After a mug of tea for me. Breakfast's eaten at work anyway.

I read somwhere 2 weeks ago that you should use mouthwash before brushing as otherwise you rinse away all the protection. Kinda makes sense, but goes against my reasoning for the last 20 odd years of my life. Same source said not to rinse with water after brushing but that it just plain stupid to me, as you're left with foam in your mouth.

Not easy this teeth brushing business.

I do it based on whatever is easier. During the week, I don't want to have to go back upstairs before work, so I brush after the shower. I then eat brekkie.

At the weekend, all bets are off.

Before. Eating breakfast with the bacteria accumulated on your teeth overnight ain't exactly pleasant.

And the fluouride + other components in the toothpaste will protect against the sugars in your breakfast or whatever, which could otherwise do damage on unbrushed teeth, or stain your teeth from tea/coffee.

Always before. Toothpaste protects against the sugars in your breakfast and I don't help to erode my teeth by brushing them when they're weak.

if it was a messy breakfast, chew some gum. problem solved. :p

I've never noticed any difference (as in a reduction doing it before) to the staining from doing it before or after. I usually brush after breakfast so as to go into work with clean looking teeth rather than stained from morning tea/cereal.
