**Tekken Tag Tournament 2**

To beat the red Mokujin, dodge it's attacks as opposed to blocking them. The only time you need to block is when it does a high/low with it's leg, you can punish it clean as you rise with a 4 (right kick). I've been playing this a lot over the weekend with some local players + friends and everybody is really enjoying it, there is quite a deep learning curve at first but after you play for a few hours things start to make sense a little more.

Try not to over do it at first, spend some time in practice mode against CPU and don't attack it just try to block and sidestep it's attacks to help you get your movement down. Then try attacking, keep it simple don't be worrying about extended or tag combos just work on some simple combos find out what's safe and what's not.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Dunzer I'll try those tips tonight. I still think easy mode should be easier though as I've had no problems with any other fighter on medium but with Unknown I only got through to the second round with a victory a handful of times in an hour. I can't remember Tekken been this hard, I completed Tekken 3 loads of times.

Who are you using as your mains? If you're finding it difficult I'd be inclined to try an easier character if you're using someone with a lot of different stances. :)

There's a beginner's guide here made by Namco, apparently they leave them in the arcades but there's a scan of each page here put into a downloadable PDF but if you're wary about downloading random things there's an imageshack link to each page instead. http://www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=123134

Other than that I would say Yoshimitsu and Raven are quite hard characters to master and I'm not sure how much Tekken you've played down the years but if I was a novice I'd be daunted by them at first. I think Forest/Marshall might be worth a try if you're getting frustrated. I find the best way to learn is to choose a character, jump into some ghost battles vs the CPU and just try different stuff from the command list. Eventually the CPU will increase in rank and difficulty, then you can learn what works against more difficult opponents. The practice mode is pretty good as well, it has quite a few sample combos which come in handy, or you can just experiment for yourself and use what works best for you.

Good games Drunzer, your Jinpachi is really mean! I haven't come across him in Ghost Battle so I had pretty much no idea what any of his moves were, I had to learn on the job, you destroyed me quite a few times with him. I thought Kazuya wasn't as great for you, apart from that tricky combo he has with the low kick thrown in he didn't seem to offer much, either that or Jinpachi was so ridiculous he made Kazuya look rubbish in comparison. :D

Not sure on which team I like best for myself, Baek/Hwoarang are who I've used the most, I think I've played about 200 offline matches with them and 20 or so online. Dragunov is my favourite character but I'm finding it difficult putting him into a team alongside someone else.

The problem with my Kazuya at the min is I'm trying to go for the big hits all the time and that's not his game, I need to be more patient and wait for openings and I need to take advantage of his mobility more. I got some good work out of Jinpachi tonight but I really need to learn to create space with him a little more, he is no good right next to his opponent because he often gets beat to the punch he's better at a certain range like 3 characters away for example..he has some really great whiff punishers. It's odd, he's a Mishima but he really doesn't play like one.

I'll be honest, I feel like your Baek/Hwoarang duo had a lot of success tonight mainly because I'm not familiar with a lot of the strings they do. I feel like after I play you a few times you will start to struggle with those guys as I become more familiar with what exactly to block, your Dragunov on the other hand......wow. I'm far from a Tekken guru I'm a 2D guy trying to survive in a 3D environment but you really need to use that character more, there were times in the set I felt helpless against him. I really think you should stick with him and try to find somebody to work with him.

GGS man, I have a busy week ahead of me but I hope to get some decent time in on this and maybe run another set with you later in the week.

PS. EVERYBODY GIVE THIS GAME A CHANCE! IT'S AWESOME!

Thanks for the feedback dude and I think you're right. The more familiar you get with Baek/Hwoarang the less effective they're gonna be, especially because Baek doesn't have a huge amount of variety to his game and while Hwoarang has a handful of different stances a lot of his moves are really unsafe to perform against an opponent who is expecting them.

Thanks for the compliments on my Dragunov, I think I'll try and pair him up with somebody, I'm just not sure who is going to work well with him, I liked Yoshimitsu so I might try and get decent with him, plus he has some ace customization options. I'll be available pretty much every day, I work nights though so this Wednesday and Thursday night I won't be around, but I'm around every day in the evenings so if I see you around I'll make sure to send you a message. :)

I agree! We need a regular bunch and we can all improve together, I need a fight pad though desperately.

Im guessing no one has this on the PS3? Does it still follow the controls from Tekken 4 onwards?

ps3ud0

Erm, the basic principles yeah, but every character has had quite a few new moves introduced to their list since then. There's a lot more emphasis on using the scenery to your advantage though as almost every arena has breakable walls, floors or balconies which can be used to create ridiculous strings.

Feel free to add me for games on xbox! (Gt:same as here) I'm playing Forest/Jun at the moment, never played anybody other than a Mishima or Law in Tekken before so my Jun kinda sucks at the moment, but I'm getting better with her. Need to start actually playing matches though, I'm just coming up with stuff in practice mode all day. Only played about 10 games so far.

I'll add you tomorrow dude and hopefully we can have a few matches. :)

Sorry guys I sold mine... I just wasn't having fun with it. Maybe with practice I'd get enjoyment out of it but when there's other games I can enjoy right away I'll go with that. Anyone wants a game of Mortal Kombat or Blaz Blue though look me up! :)

That sucks that you sold it, I was looking forward to getting some games with you. I'm aware though that this fighting game has a fairly deep learning curve compared to most though and it's not for everybody, at least you gave it a shot.

Yeah it's not a bad game it just is a little too fast paced for me. My perfect fighting game would be where all the moves are easy to pull off and it's just a case of using them tactically in the right situations to beat your opponent. Oh and loads of characters 'cause you have to have loads of characters!

As it stands though trying to guess if a character is going to say punch high or punch low seems impossible to predict as you have less than a second to see it nevermind react. :)
