**TELL AORUS YOUR WEAPON OF CHOICE**

I suppose a limited run in a pattern like this would be a good idea. I'd personally think about doing it in a similar way to how Filco do coloured versions of their keyboards. I have a limited production camouflaged TKL of theirs, but they also sell blue, beige (white) and red cased versions.

But how wouldn't it be appropriate for a business meeting? Stick it on the desk, no-one will see it, Netflix on, slacking level 9000!

I don't dislike it, but wouldn't go for a look like that myself. Also I think the market for this kind of design will be quite limited, especially if the laptop is a pricey high end gaming laptop.
I wouldn't want to be stuck with a warehouse full of them. Can you skin them to order? (Or even do personalised skins)

The peripherals look interesting in a 5 year stretch kind of way ;)

I think it looks disgusting and is a pathetic attempt to look 'Army' for a childish consumer base that thinks playing CoD makes them certified SAS troopers.

But isn't that a market in itself? Certainly more and more 'console kiddies' coming over to PC gaming the last few years, you know the ones - mommy and daddy have too much money and buy little johnny a new 'gaming laptop' to compensate for the time they spend away from him while working?

I wouldn't imagine these would be produced and stocked in the 1000's as they're making a somewhat already niche product (high powered gaming laptop only used for gaming) even more targetted towards a certain taste/market (players who like camo).

Personally a universal laptop 'design'/series with aftermarket 'shells' which can be fitted by the End Users would be a much more suitable product. You could sell different shells for different games as your target audience usually switch games every ~4-6 months. Gives you post-sale income @£40 a pop. Make it a series so customers become repeat customers as their much loved shells won't fit anything else. Various designs, you could even run social media campaigns/promo's where users can submit their own designs with the winners' actually going into production to be purchased by the masses etc etc...

Pretty sure this has been done before. Didn't Alienw*** do one?

My opinion is:

- It is too generically themed to have any appeal
- Is that a vinyl wrap or a professional paint job?
- I don't like it as I prefer elegant designs
- Maybe if it had some association with a major AAA game then it would have greater selling power

love the design:)
I would like to see X5 and X7 so there is a top spec and more affordable versions avalible to more people.

I wouldn't mind a design similar to the Ka Bar knife zombie range. I think it was lime green with a bio hazard symbol. May be the stealth version mentioned higher up in the article.

TBH i think most of the gaming community would be happy with a good theme so long as you could market it at a game type.

Looks okay, but might not travel well (TSA might take a dim view to it)

That is actually a good point - some countries have restrictions on "military" or military look items unless you are a member of the armed forces i.e. Barbados IIRC can be quite strict about it including camo on items and toys. (So if you took it on holiday with you could potentially be a problem).

I play lots of War Gameming Games (World of Tanks/Warships etc) and War Thunder etc.

They already have a link with Razor for some special products - Mice, mice pads, headsets etc. If this was do able with WG for World of Tanks I would be really interested in one........

New Zealand's customs officers destroyed a Gigabyte motherboard that had a cooler shaped as a gun.

Do you like it?
Yeah i always like alternative designs :D

Do you hate it?
Only if it does not provide me with cookies

Would love to see a Mario one and on the keys a mario character on each one XD

Im not personally to keen on this! Though i can see a market for it :) I would not want to be " that guy " who shows up with the camo laptop at a work meeting. I like subtle designs really so this is a bit powerful for me! I would love to see a carbon version with a few subtle silver accents on it.

If it is camo enough you can sit and play CS:GO and they won't even notice.

Was never a fan of the military theme or adding ammo cartridges to mobos..etc but I'm sure there is a market for it somewhere.

Sleek and discrete for me personally.

Good on you for seeking feedback and suggestions though

Hi

Thanks for your views guys, this is exactly what we wanted to see, gathering views and opinions, enabling you to have an input into our design process.

We knew for sure that this design would split opinion and be a "Marmite" situation,,,, but this is why we came to OcUK to canvass opinion.

Really good to hear from all and we will post more specific replies to some of the posts later on.

Thanks again, please keep 'em coming and spread the thread to others who you know will have an opinion!

Regards,

Team AORUS.

I like the idea of white or silver camo, I think that effect could look really professional/military at the same time. Would be great to see a mock up of this. :)

Thanks 5UB,,,

We have many ideas and snow camo we think would also look awesome.

Not my cup of tea if I'm honest; just seems like its catering to a "tacticool" type of crowd - if I were to pull it out my kit bag, I'd think I'd be abit embarrassed. Why not go with something different like a unique artwork / modernist approach rather than shrink wrapping it.

I think it looks disgusting and is a pathetic attempt to look 'Army' for a childish consumer base that thinks playing CoD makes them certified SAS troopers.

But that's just the impression I personally get from the appearance. :p

I really don't like that pattern (prefer good old British DPM) and I don't think it looks anything like military kit. Just a normal laptop with a paint job... or sticker set, even.

I'd much rather have a laptop styled on the modern GRiDCASE products (which actually *are* military issue lappies) and built to at least look like they would be used by soldiers.

Hi both,

Of course the design isn't going to appeal to everyone, and yes it would be marketed to the FPS / War Gamer that would find this appealing. The actual pattern is "genuine" military design known as "MULTICAM" and we have to have a licence to use it - so 100% it IS an actual military design, so is in line with other military kit.

The process is a hand crafted print process, not sticker or skin / vinyl.

Thanks for your views guys, appreciated.

Team AORUS

^^ not surprised it does look the real deal, its not impossible a laptop could be used on the front line and I would want it however

This reminds me of the lecture by the art design dept of Steam. They had expected traditional or full camouflage to be most popular but soon realised more paintball type exotic designs were in demand for standing out which is the opposite of camo.

snow camo we think would also look awesome
in game snow camo is one of my favourites
