Tempest Rising - a new Command & Conquer for 2023

It just feels slightly too fast to me in terms of unit movement, general game pace etc.

I remember in the old C&C games such as Red Alert 2 you could adjust this to slow it down a little bit.

At the moment this appears to be absent, unless I have missed it.

Also, there's only 9 maps on Skirmish mode which seems quite low!

Cheats mods and trainers (not tried it yet)

The Digital Foundry review is worth a look to those on the fence.

I'm not desperate for a game at the minute so giving it a pass. But if Tib Sun remaster raises its head i'll jump on that. Tempest Rising just comes across in slightly confused style which i mentioned in a previous post.

They have cut the price on Steam £35 for standard (from £40) & £41 for deluxe (was £50). People who pre-ordered must be peed off.

Of course still cheaper on key sites

Im interested in getting this, but reading on steam community it’s quite fast paced and everything is rush rush rush.
Is it possible to take a slow approach where you can concentrate on base building without getting attacked from the get go?

Nope not really, the game settings are quite minimal i.e. there's no option to adjust the speed or any option to adjust the bot behaviour.

That's what killed it on the early demo for me.. You can't zoom out properly.
I don't care if half the map is black /fog of war.

Most new rts games are like this and it sucks.

If that's not fixed then this game will suck too.
Shame as there's some interesting mechanics like drone troops and stuff.

I agree with an RTS I like to be able to zoom out enough to see what's going on. I wonder if the lack of zoom is done to help improve performance.

Guys see the quote below

Saber Eric [developer] 9 hours ago

We changed the zoom-out capabilities for skirmish and multiplayer, but for campaign we did not mainly for performance reasons; the campaign missions were designed in a way where we couldn't adjust their zoom in the same way.

Had a chance to play a bit now. Feels quite basic, units are a bit too small and maybe a little too much micromanaging.

The graphics are very disappointing for a 2025 game. I've got 15 year old command and conquer games (eg Tiberium wars & Tiberium Twilight) with better graphics.

Campaigns seem quite long though so probably reasonable value for money

Snap, same here. I was thinking of the need to zoom out and with too much focus on the micro. I will give it another go. The units don't seem to 'snap', more a generic move etc.

I was thinking that they could just release a load of single player missions for cnc3 ala counterstrike or covert ops. No vids just text to cut costs.

One to get in a sale cheap. This is a real real shame as I really want a new cnc/RTS game.

so you paid an extra £5.50 for the soundtrack? The music is terrible

I was going buy the standard version but knew i be fuming if the rewards for the 7 day early release mess up is something i would want

So i took a gamble ;)

Ha, same here:)
I love to play old RTS games, but prefer to start with few peasants and build my base, then army, then make a huge attack :)
This is how I played all Warcraft, C&C etc. This is why my favourite game of all time is Settlers II. WHen first saw Settlers I in early 90s and played it on my 386, I fell in love with this kind of games.
