Temps OK?

Hi Ben,

Thanks for asking and sorry for the delay! All moved into the flat now and have rebuilt the PC.

While i was at it i also upgraded from the 7950 GX2 to an 8800GTX.

The 680i has a Noctua NC-U6 on the northbridge and an Enzotech forged copper heatsink on the southbridge.

Although it's not pictured i have bought a Thermalright SI-128 to replace the Amanda (which is total overkill imo) and i also have a Thermalright HR-03 Plus on it's way to cool the GTX while i overclock it.

The OCZ SLi memory is also an absolute gem and works wonderfully with the mobo.

All in all i'm really very happy with it! I can run S.T.A.L.K.E.R @ full @ 1680x1050 with the whole PC running @ stock. The 8800's really impressed me!

Nice stuff, looking good, Is that motherboard 680i or 680i LT?

Ben
Thanks Ben,

It's the bog standard 680i (Revision 1). Debating quad core but would only do that if i was prepared to return the mobo to EVGA to swap it out for one of the newer revisions that will happily clock a quad.

I'll let you know what i decide - will ultimately come down to what funds allow! ;) :D

How's your PC going. I'd forgotten how neat your install was... really is a nice job mate!

Going great got my E6300 to 3.4ghz with that RAM you sent me, just lapped my CPU and Heatsink, im just gonna post the piccies in a new thread :)

Great stuff!

Can't wait to see it... glad the ram's doing a good job too! :)

Wow, 3.4 is a great clock! My 6600 will do 3.55 but it needs over 1.5v. I've left it at 3.2 - hopefully the SI-128 will yield better results.

Seems ok although my E6600 is clocked at 3GHz (25% OC) and it idles at 30C with a Noctua NH-U12F. Fully loaded it reaches 43C-45C.
Hey mish,

My temps have always been high.

Scythe ninja, big typhoon, titan amanda... none really did that amazing.

My amanda is on my e6600 @ stock voltages and clocks. Idle in TAT is 34/36 - Full 100% load in TAT is 46/48. Not very cool at all considering it's not clocked at the mo!

When clocked to 3.2ghz i was at 53/54 @ full load.

Heh, my 3800+ has been at 60degrees since ive got it, barely doing anything, i know it cant be right!!

It has got a massive core size though i suppose :P

Not put a foot wrong yet either :D

Mish, What voltage were you putting through it for 3ghz? Gt, yours maybe high because of higher voltage than mish just a thought
Stock volts 1.19v - FSB 333.

Thats not too bad gt, you have to also consider the airflow and quality of paste too. Also, remember that each batch is different.

Think im gonna re-seat my cooler as i installed it without taking the mobo out and it was a tight fit, ill report back in 15mins ish...

Mish, you set me off with your cpu at 1.19v ive got mine at 1.025v its great 23idle 29with 100% workload set in tat !!!!!!!! This is at 1660mhz tho (266x6)

Very nice ;) It seems mine isn't stock then, I never modified it either  Have you tried Orthos and proper CPU speeds? Try my voltage first and then tinker. I'd be interested to see what yours is at my voltage.
