Bored. Thought I'd have a look at what all the hype is about. Downloaded the app and was presented by sixteen billion offers and games and coupons and vouchers and discounts and specials and and and.

Can I just buy something? Don't be silly, you have to complete the Jungle of Offers level first. Closed the app.

This evening, about a month later, thought I'd have a look, exactly the same again. It just goes on and on, it's insane.

Closed the app again.

Anyone actually had decent success with it?

I just tried it on ye olde fashioned interweb, and it's just a shop. Like aliexpress. No wall of offers.

I don't use Temu, but Aliexpress, same thing, different name essentially.

I buy lots, first...think of something...like USB cable. Look at UK seller...then find the same thing on there for like usually....anything from 10% or even 1/3rd different.

Wait. 1 to 2 weeks instead of next day. I probably save hundreds of quid in the past year.

I get ads for weird stuff every now and then, had the same experience, open it up to a highly gamified site, probably appeals to the Tiktok crowd.

Terrible on phones but get no ads on the laptop. Use it as well as Ali Express for most tings now. Just got some Garmin watch straps that are nearly £40 from Garmin, got them for £2.79 each and when they arrived they are Genuine Garmin ones. Also worth dropping stuff in your basket and leaving it a couple of days as they sometimes lower the price more to get you to buy it.

Seems ok on my iPhone on the app. Get to the main page and just search for things I want.

Said it bfore and say it again. ordered items from ALi express, never turned up, even Royal Mail looked into it for me and determined they used fake tracking info and fake photo for rpoof of delivery (using the same fake photo each time on four items), would never use them again. Even with all of this info getting my money back was nightmare fuel with Aly Express as they jsut never wanto admit it was in fact a scam from multiple sellers. I see TEMU as the exact same thing.
I know many have used them with sucess, but I wouldnt trust them again.

You may not realise, but AliExpress don't actually do the delivery. They use a 3rd party delivery service in the UK - typically Evri but sometimes Royal Mail.

If you've had a failed delivery then it'll be the fault of the courier rather than the retailer. It's akin to buying a keyboard from OCUK and then blaming them when DPD fail to deliver it.

Aliexpress is basically Amazon Marketplace or Etsy even. That's it.

When looking on Aliexpress, you are looking at thousands of individual sellers, so it sounds like you picked a scam store, they do exist. My tip to avoid them is

1 - When do a search of what you want, get a gauge of the rough going rate, pick the cheapest one obviously but not the outlier that is 20% less than the rest. If the item is £50, there are lots ranging from £47 to £52, pick the £47 is fine, but picking one at £25 is not.

2 - Look at numbers sold and reviews with photos.

3 - Use pay after delivery when offered, and usually are.

4 - Pay by credit card.

When items are shipped, from around China, it goes into a sorting center. If your order has multiple items, often those different items will collate at that sorting center, put in a single package together before coming to the UK in 1 parcel.

Ordered all sorts of tools, microcontrollers and sensors of AliExpress, no issues. They do like to throw in a spin the wheel type thing, like I'm interested in saving a fake 50p on a £5 order

Used Temu / AliExpress on the odd occasion for small things.
Cables, pet stuff, sponges, kitchen accessories, bathroom accessories, toothbrush heads etc nothing that's expensive but is like half or less the cost than on Amazon/ebay just with a longer delivery window which isn't an issue. Very handy for small stuff that's inexpensive.

Don't have issues with it apart from the whole slave labour thing.
But it's where amazon sellers are getting stuff anyways and selling for a markup

Gotten plenty of stuff from TEMU/AliExpress that I still use, i have an order on the way right now....

You do have to be careful and read reviews though. But returns are free and easy.

Temu is big in Sweden but its **** compared to AliExpress.

They have some kind of import/shipping/ vat deal here so everything ends up kinda not cheap anyway.

It's ok to find ridiculous junk for joke bday presents and stuff. Once s year if I'm bored I'll look for a load of kitchen gadgets or gardening stuff junk little semi useless things.

Oh I actually bought some space marine Lego from temu loool that was cool.

The tracking gave was for Royal Mail, even they said no such thing exists. It was never sent.

Never been scammed from Amazon or Etsy.
I'm not doubting they obviously do come through for stuff, but as a first ever order staying away from the obvious " to cheap to be good rule" I don't see why I would go back. Also considering when I first provided proof from CS all I got was " how can we make this right"...Just give me a full refund then " I'm sorry we cannot see why we should do that as we have proof of delivery" blah blah blah.

Not Amazon, Amazon Marketplace. The side that it is individual sellers, not the big cooperation selling the item.

You might not have been personally scammed by sellers on these platforms but that’s a personal, individual experience. Different topic entirely to my point. My point is you are buying off a small seller.

Temu has always been like this on the mobile app. You have to jump through all the meaningless offers first before you can buy anything.
We tend to buy cheap/disposable items from there for the kids quite often
