Tennis

Hopefully get gets denied a Visa for the full three years for wasting everyone's time and money. If he'd accepted he was in the wrong and went straight back on the next flight he'd have likely got a Visa in future years if he played by the rules.

Please let there be a Border Force Special about this.

I wonder what were his plan to enter Australia had he not conveniently caught Covid in the narrow window required with isolation period just before the major tournament.

Speaking of catching covid is Kyrgios fit to play? Would be a shame if he hasn't recovered in time. His head to head against Novak is 2-0 in his favour.

He reminds me of the outspoken French dude Benoit Paire who said Tennis isn't a priority for him. ""I arrive, I take some money and I go to the next tournament: I do my job," "If you win an ATP 250, you only pocket $30,000. Me, with bye [in the first round], I took 10,000 each time losing straight. Why tear yourself away like crazy to earn barely more?"

Always enjoy these sort of characters.

I hope when it comes to Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Novak finds himself in a similar position, no vaccination, no entry.

Well that's not how immigration for either France or England works, so he'll be there. USA though will not let him in either and state of new York does not allow you to play any professional sport if you've had no vaccination.

But that said, an Unvaccinated Novak would pose as a health and safety risk to others.

We've already seen his arrogance and no thought for anyone else, despite testing positive.

Doesn't quite work the same, he can enter schengen area for 90 days without a visa so will be fine for France and I believe the same is true of England.

You are talking about tourism though. He's Serbian so would need a visa to work, which is what he will be doing. It would likely be given though unless there is a box to check asking "have you ever been issued a deportation order"

Surely all the footballers and rugby players are not all vaccinated?

I would assume that, by this point, the overwhelming majority of sportspeople of all stripes are vaccinated.

Thought ‘elite’ sport was already has different rules…their own bubbles, not quarantining with the plebs etc?

France has specifically rejected accepted these bubble arrangements as an alternative.

Na…Telegraph gives figures of 25% for lower leagues (no idea how much travel they do abroad) , but still 15% for Premiership.

The French changes are new?
We’ll see what flex happens on implementation.

if someone’s paying me £200k a week. I’ll get vax’d.

No idea for tennis not being a team sport.
Tennis thread I’ll stfu.
