Trying to shorten points to this extent just isn't working for Djokovic. Alcaraz is too good of a mover for that - you'd need to be hitting absolutely huge approach shots every time or you just get passed constantly.

I also don't get why he's trying to out drop Alcaraz. Alcaraz is lightning, and if he gets to a drop shot he'll probably win the point. That's two drops and two stop volleys he's lost points on now

Yeah, pretty low percentage against anyone. Against Alcaraz it's basically giving the point away even on grass...

It'll be interesting if he changes things up now and tries to play his normal more grindy game. Although presumably if he thought his knee could handle it he would have from the start.
