Tennis

It's not really. I go most years, and you dip in and out of the show courts, particularly in the first few days when there are also such great matches on the outside courts
All courts had empty seats for pretty much every match today, some lots. They either don't let enough people in the watch all these games or people buy tickets and don't turn up.
I really don't fancy queuing up the evening before to maybe get a ticket sometime during the day so went the ballot route.
Just annoying that you see what would be thousands of empty seats over the day when you are unsuccessful in it

Says this on the main site so clearly loads had tickets for main courts and just don't show
Show court tickets will be sold daily, with 500 tickets for Centre Court (excluding last four days), No.1 Court, and No.2 Court available for the days that the courts are in play.

And, please bear in mind that we have a Grounds capacity limit and once this is reached, entry may only be possible as people leave the Grounds for the day.

So clearly not letting enough people in to fill courts, just their wallets with unused tickets and money from strawberries and cream

Currently now both main courts have hundreds of empty seats and they are the only matches on.

They sell out the show courts, but if there are good matches going on on the outside courts, people leave and go watch them. There are something like 18 courts live during the first week of the tournament, and people are free to roam around all of them. You can't judge how busy it is there on the basis of any one court.

I often head down after work, as I live around a mile away from the AEC, and it's pretty easy to get in at least to the grounds in the evening. They're good at keeping the place full.

every court had empty seats for every match today. I flicked through all of them on iplayer. Its clear there is never enough people in the grounds to fill every court. Embarrassing turn out on the main two this evening

Are you even reading the responses to your outrage by someone who frequents? I've also been Wimbledon multiple times and they are correct.

Lol. just look at the coverage. Just look at all the articles already talking about empty seats. He said Main court tickets are sold out, yes we know that, check centre and one court now, everyone gone as green seats have they

He's literally explained to you why that is the case, people are free to roam in between matches and you can leave after each game of tennis is played (security will let people in and out as each game finishes (as in first to 4 points)

So, centre court wasn't full at 5,30, no.1 one court wasn't and all the outside courts weren't full. Where is everyone then? Roaming between courts? :D
There are complaints every year about empty seats so two forum people aren't changing my view or many others.
Even today there were complaints about outside courts being empty early on before main courts opened and massive queue of people outside.

3520 tickets are allocated for Debenture Tickets, additional seats for hospitality providers. So at least 4000 probably over centre and no.1 for each day I guess too.

Can pick up some if you like on the ticket resale site, £1500 minimum though, so like I say, they don't turn up, they aren't roaming between courts at all.

Yes, raoaming between courts, gettings beers, going toilet etc

Why don't you go early and queue? That's a more fun experience than when I have had tickets and you buy someones elses ticket for £5

Too far to travel in the hope of maybe getting a ticket sometime during the day.
Everyone knows there's the grounds tickets where you can move around courts but it doesn't change the fact it's pretty clear there is never enough people in the grounds to fill all courts because it seems they want people buying stuff rather than having seats filled and that main court seats that have been sold are empty down to high number of hospatillty and people not showing up.
They only sell an extra 500 seats for the 3 main courts a day and that's only if people with main court tickets have actually left the grounds totally.

Every year there are complaints and they just fail to change anything.
Plus with the queuing, 10000 people yesterday in the queue the first turning up on Friday. In the middle of a park with no visible shelter that I could see on the hottest day of the year, more of a fun experience you say.

Some people just love to moan.

First time I went, I queued in the sun for 5 hours before getting to see Murray on centre and it was one of the most amazing if not, the most amazing live sporting event I've ever been to (Not murray specifically, just the vibe of SW19). You do you.

People will always moan when they are many and yesterday it was thousands of empty seats across the 3 main courts at the same time.

Yes they might be at another court, highly unlikely yesterday as all had empty seats, even the smallest ones.
Yes they might be having strawberries and cream or a drink somewhere but at one point that would have meant more were doing something else other than watching tennis.. supposed to be 42000 capacity for total grounds and if centre, 1 and 2 are half empty at same time that leaves about 16000 people wandering or on other courts which the capacity of those isn't near that it seems.
Can see hospitality, debenture, royal, sponsors etc tickets getting up to 5000 for centre and 1 which is a high % for 27000 seats.

Yes it would be great once you're in like you had that day, just feel and seems many do there could be a lot of improvements ticket wise.

So, centre court wasn't full at 5,30
Well yes, because as it gets later people leave. If you head down after work you often get in pretty easily. That's not because they've sold too few tickets, but because people don't stay late. What's your solution for that?

The only one I can see is to split it between day and night sessions, but that massively reduces the magic of the event.

Not sure on a solution but everywhere has lots of empty seats again apparently so something needs doing.
Still 5 hours of play left at 5.30, so if people have left make more centre and one court tickets available and not just 500 each over the day.

Possibly making the main courts have a good number of tickets solely for these courts, guess that would fill these up more. Less hospitality tickets also, too many for the main court capacity.
Seems people go to Wimbledon not for the tennis

Seeds dropping like flies in both men's and women's.
Could set up for a shock winner or an easy passage for the top few seeds

mainly as grass is uncomfortable for manny of the top seeds (medvedev, iga, pegula)

Alcaraz an admirable exception given he was brought up on clay

I've given up trying to explain.

Can you imagine if the tickets were on sale to the general public with 70m ppl in the UK? No chance

Zverev been in semi or Final of last two grass events leading up to Wimbledon, Pegula just won a final last week on the grass and Medvedev was in the final last week on grass

All three been in great form on the grass and all 3 out in first round.

Trouble with Pegula and Zverev is they win loads on the ATP and WTA but just can;t do it in slams for some reason on any surface
