Terra Nova

The bungalows were not that 5 star anyway. Yeah they looked nice and spacious but nothing amazing. Anyway who would have signed up to go to Terra Nova if you had to live in a tree house.

You'd never make it impenetribubble... not made of wood... that burns!

Unfortunately this far back in time I'm not sure I'd be able to gather enough materials for Immovable impenetrable substance 1 let alone substance 3 which is what I'm currently manufacturing it would require several mines and I'm not sure they have the manpower!

Already established that communication is only possible whilst the flaw is open, with requests for medical supplies being delayed until the next transfer.

when were we told this? i've watched the double length first episode as well as the one after that and there's been no mention of if/how communication with the future is possible.

i think, like someone else said, a particular complaint is warranted over the retardedness of the teenagers in the show. not even sure if that's a word but if it isn't it should be, solely used to describe these characters - they are that retarded. world full of f-off massive dinosaurs (which are impervious to all guns apparently) and they decide to go OTG (gay acronym tbh) to make some moonshine and go for a swim. only an idiot would risk their life for that. are we really supposed to care about the wellbeing of these characters?

I may be a few episodes ahead - but iirc even in Episode 2 they ask the Quarritch fella if he's notified the future about the Sixers and he mentions he hadn't yet, which kind of implies communication is possible.

After the Sixers take a load of meds i'm sure there's a more explicit mention of requesting resupplies from the government and the likely delay but off the top of my head i can't remember which episode it was.

I do agree to some extent but it isn't clear how long those teenagers have been on Terra Nova (the new boy aside), maybe they've been doing it for years without much hassle (or maybe they've only just started so haven't hit problems). Also I'd imagine that base camp is very boring and they are seeking some excitement.

Essentially it is a typical TV/Film mechanic; kids go off piste and land themselves in trouble. I think where they went wrong is maybe introducing it a little early in the show, before we've really got to know any of the kids so it hard to empathise with them.

I just think it's a shame that none of the kids got munched to death. Sure they got injured, but nobody died. It would have set the tone much better as it would have lead to some deeper and more long term repercussions.

I'm not sure the writers have the balls to do it, but it would be nice to see one of the 'main' characters get munched on. A bit like Jurassic park where the lawyer gets eaten. Surprised me that bit!

agreed. that especially idiotic girl that ran off from the vehicle by herself and got semi-mauled should have just been killed off. the writers need to keep the dinosaurs scary which is best done by letting them kill people. NOT by making them invincible lol.

i think they should have spent more of the first 3 episodes exploring the background and premise of the show rather than jumping straight into filler-style episodes (migrating pterosaurs? really? smacks of a mid-season filler). we're supposed to care about these characters but we know nothing about them, or about the world they came from. i know it's only just started but by the 3rd episode of many other shows i had a decent grasp of the premise and background of the show. not so with this one

Indeed, one of the best parts of A song of Ice and Fire is the mortality rate of main characters. That would've given them a chance to fix their rubbish teenage characters by removing them from the script entirely also. Shame they don't have artistic fortitude innit :P

I was starting to get angry watching the latest episode.... so so close to never watching it again!

I never really thought about it but what excuse did the dinosaurs have for not eating her out there?

You can tell this is going to be a show that won't take any risks with things like an interesting storey, at least it's not as dull as outcasts was i guess.

Honestly, I think we might have skipped right past that, thats a bog standard season one sci-fi filler ep, we're already seeing season 3-4 ones :p

In all seriousness, yes, something will infect everyone, everyone except one person who happens to be taking a certain kind of medication, which they can't replicate but bears a striking similarity to a chemical they found in some fruit that is in a really dangerous area, it writes itself, most sci-fi does these days.

Almost spot on ;)

Seriously, painfully unoriginal show, the only time its not the random fruit from the planet, its the random local cold you can only get on that planet that saves the day.

Truly pathetic show.

So now we’ve had the flying dino turkeys. I wonder if next week’s episode will be as under cooked as this one. I suspected I’ll be turning the gas off very soon.
