As bad as this show is this comment has made this show and the waste of 2 hours of my life worth it
And the rest. Syndication, merchandise (all three kinds of merchandise, I may add) etc
But yeah, totally. It's the pay for TV thing.

Only just noticed the thread for this!
I really like the premise of the show and the first episode. Really don't like all of this teen love interest rubbish and "problem of the week" type episodes. Reminds me too much of Stargate Universe. Hope it picks up, this show has so, so much potential.
Surprised by how good the cgi has been considering it is a TV show.

Really? a lot of people say the CGI is really bad, in comparison to other shows like planet dinosaur.

I guess I haven't seen many similar shows for comparison. I find it gets the job done tbh, I would happier if they improved the script though. With so much potential it would be frustrating if the show got canned before another season.

Indeed. I dunno how shows like Firefly, Party Down, Arrested Development etc all get cancelled yet drivel like the modern simpsons still keeps going. It's depressing really.

Im waiting for the one where we get duplicate versions of themselves turning up, or ones from a parallel universe and they are all evil....
Oh and cant forget about the one where a bug crawls into one of the terra novas and takes over them to do bad things.
Am also sure theres gonna be with aliens and ufos involved and another where they find a human being dead from before they arrived...

Merchandise. While The Simpsons may no longer be pulling in the viewing figures they still make a disgusting amount of money from marketing.

Its ok simpsons voice actors stopped getting 400k per episode they agreed to a pay decrease for the series to survive on.

The moment they made a "thing" of somebody sneezing, i clicked they used the "daniel jackson defence", without actually seeing the rest of the episode.

it's story and solution thats probably been used since the original star trek.
The same with episodes involving
Out of Phase/Invisible characters..
Alternate Universe...
Time Travel...
An infestation...
I'm sure there are more.
I bet that we see an Infestation episode by the end of the first season...

Which makes it very difficult to do something original. Which also makes a lot of criticism about this series valid points for just about every Sci-Fi ever made.
I have to say I think I may have built this up (to myself) as something it is not nor never will be. I was hoping for a new major blockbuster, loads of seasons, monster storyline, all sewn together with some boss new actors and an amazingly beautiful setting.
I think its going to be some people running around from poor cgi dinosaurs and eventually each other..
I shall however persist. I'm clinging onto the glimmer of hope that is the groundwork being laid by the sixers/his lost son and his dodgy drawings. There may be some good sinister depth to come.

I always give a show in it's first season the benefit of the doubt tbh. Very rarerly do you get a show that hits all the right switches to begin with. You just need to look at most of the successful sci fi franchises, they started off really poorly in comparison to what came later.
While i'm not defending any flaws, it's just reality.
I don't think this will be BSG/Lost special, but i still think it has potential.
On a CG note, i don't think it's particuarly bad, but recent shows like SGU have really raised the bar in terms of realism for living creatures. I think Terra Nova is lagging behind a bit.

I can't help but keep watching this in the hope it will get better, then again, I did the same with SGU...what a waste that was, will never punish my eyes with that rubbish again.
They need to do some kind of B5:TNG type thing...JMS has been doing some excellent story telling in comics over the years, he should come back to TV.
