Terra Nova

I don't get why people were expecting so much, the second I saw it had dinosaurs I thought.... uh oh. Alarm bells went off, then when the "star" turns out to be the worst guy in Avatar I had no hopes whatsoever, no expectations, which is why its even more embarassing that I was left feeling let down.

Bog standard, completely generic new sci fi shows should do a lot better than $4mil an ep show thats getting a lot of network support behind it.

Its not "ultra" scifi like Stargate, although its similar, I don't think they'll do a dissappearing guy who ends up hearing stuff he shouldn't type ep.

We should come up with a list of cliche'd sci fi eps and see what we get right. I guessed stupid bug fixed by plantlife/cold.

I reckon we'll have the something stings someone and it turns out to be laying its egg's in someone. What about the , kid finds stupid cute dinosaur, takes it home as pet, then mum comes looking for it.

Judging by the "others" on the island...... i mean prehistoric planet, mutiny type situation where the sixers take over the camp but one, maybe two guys are "missing" (probably not in the vent ducts in this situation) and manage to sabotage things and take out people one by one before liberating the camp.

Usually the problem with earlier seasons of sci-fi shows is that the writers are brought in and don't necessarily have an in-depth knowledge of the shows premise "People leave dying planet in the future and live in a compound in an alternate past with dinosaurs" they probably have some character info and that's about it, they won't have even seen the show. This then leaves them bringing out the cliché story-lines as they are tried and tested.

I'd have thought it better for the creators to write an entire seasons story arc and map it to each episode and then let the writers pad it out, but what the hell do I know? Nothing, that's what!

Wasn't convinced by last weeks episode (migrating flying things and setting up a menage a tois). Very little of genuine interest whereas I thought the first couple of eps were OK. I can see that episode getting quickly forgotten.

That's why BSG was so damn good.

Watch the most recent episode with the Virus and it was crap from the start to the end least the others were okay and watchable =/

I dont think it will see past season one anyway but still least try!

This program IMO had so much potential!

The idea was so good going back in time (to an alternate reality) was great.
But it was nothing but jurassic park meets lost, with horrible acting.

Makes me sad.

That's it for me - I'm out after another boring hour. Last night's reminded me of a poor SG1 episode, but with SG1 you can tolerate the odd dull episode because the characters have a bit of charisma. I'm can't like any of the characters in Terra Nova.

I'm ashamed that I was buzzed after seeing the trailer....not so though afterwards :/

Also they use Nerf guns....so much for the $20mil budget!

Yeah i can see all those happening, especially the sixers taking over at some point, so far we've had the teens in trouble episode, the flying pest/animal control episode (probably more to come) and we've had the mysterious virus that causes memory loss, whats next i wonder?

I suspect there will be a people go missing episode, a technology gone wrong episode, some sort of disease outbreak effecting the whole settlement, a natural disaster or a bad weather episode...

wtf, who cares. It's a prop. All film/tv use props. How does that change anything. Why spend thousands when that looks absolutely fine.
People looking for things to pick holes in it. It's mind boggling.

Yup it involves a run away kid...what else they gonna do they only got a 4 million dollar budget per episode, cant spoiler junk right lol ?

Why can't they spend some of that money on decent writers, i really don't understand it when they make a big show like this and don't even try, the basic idea has potential, if only they had some imagination and took a few risks with the plot.

What I found really bizarre last night was that doctor who had lost her memory goes "MALCOM!!!! OMG!" and didn't make any comment at all on the fact that he looked 20 years older than the last time she saw him, yet she instantly noticed it in herself when looking in a mirror (especially considering the fact that she could probably pass for twenties and he definitely couldn't).

This show is really quite good when its not emoing it up with the family drama stuff. The whole daughter and the soldier dude (can't even remember their names ><) I was mildly interested in until the latest episode, at which point they went even further into the "omfg who wrote this" territory than the family stuff.

Sigh, and I had high hopes after the first episode.
