Terra Nova

Those last two episodes were good!, it was like watching a high quality movie it's just a shame that pretty much the entire series has been rubbish :(.

Can someone sum up what happened throughout season 1 and the great finale everyone is talking about, I already wasted a few hours on the first 5 episodes and can't justify wasting anymore of my time so just want to generally know what happened :)

That little kid is the most annoying thing about the show for me. I really hope the character gets eaten by a dinosaur or something.

Also the main antagonist (not the sixers) is completely unbelievable.

Please please get cancelled. If they produce a 2nd season i know i'll watch it, but really I don't want to.

A substantial amount of filler episodes and Taylor's son Lucas manages to reverse the portal to bring back his employer's who plan to strip Terra Nova for resources. Finale is pretty much the occupation of these invading troops and overthrowing them, so fairly action packed. Think that about sums it up.

Seems a bit confusing at parts though. On one hand, you have people from the future wearing breathing equipment due to low oxygen levels, but then you have someone like Jim Shannon whos been living in an oxygen rich environment for months, only to go to the future, back to the low oxygen environment, and he can suddenly cope fine and act like an olympic sprinter outrunning a dinosaur.

All the while not showing any signs of fatigue.

I hm'd at that.

Still, was a lot of action.

They weren't wearing masks when they were walking towards the portal in the pilot so the oxygen in the complex can't be that low.

I did rage internally at the number of stupid things people did or didn't do in this episode mostly by the supposed 'best army money could buy'.
1. Why didn't they imprison the civilians so they couldn't sabotage anything. I mean come on! They've infiltrated and used probably the most heavily guarded facility on the planet (or one would hope) it seems a bit...sloppy to be taking such chances.
2. How could they let Taylor and co get 'that' close to the portal, do guards actually look for intruders?
3. Why didn't they bring their own engineer to fix the portal? It would have avoided the risk of Malcom sabotaging the device. Foresight is an awesome skill to have.
4. Have they never heard of checking whats in the very important containers full of important stuff before they send it through the portal?

Why didn't they sedate Lucas? Why leave him with Sky? Why not leave another soldier with her who had a gun pointed at Lucas at all times?

Taylor you're a trained killer and soldier and you go and hug your enemy? I saw that part and i was just thinking 'he's going to get shot or stabbed now'. bingo!.

Sky shooting Lucas....if you want to make sure something is 100% dead..shoot it in the head. It's easy really..Lucas did it earlier in the episode..

Overall it was ok...nothing great. 90% of the season was filler stuff that didn't really lead anywhere. You could probably watch the pilot, 1-2 episodes in between and the finale and you wouldn't miss anything important.
About 'culling' the family.

The little kid (zoe) i don't mind. They can get rid of the teenagers though.

Please?

no seriously...get rid of them. Teenage kids are one of the worst things to happen to sci fi drama.

Head shots are far from certain death. Google has lots of stories of brain shot survivors.
Shooting the brain stem would be instant death however.

Lucas was shot possibly in the liver or intestines which would cause fatal bleeding.

It's more the fact that she didn't immediately go over and check he was actually dead than anything else. I think Taylor could have waited a few more seconds :p.

Nah, season 2 material that. He took a shot in the arm, and one in the leg. Both just flesh wounds. :D

So I come in here to see what people are posting about the PENULTIMATE episode and seemingly find people discussing the FINAL episode that is not on till BOXING DAY in the UK.

I'm not sure what the forum policy is here now - IIRC they're "unofficially" allowing discussion of shows which haven't aired in the UK yet, which makes sense given that giant forums such as DigitalSpy have been doing it for ages without breaking any laws, or inviting any other kind of negative comeback.

That being the case, perhaps there ought to be seperate "US pace" and "UK pace" threads (like DigitalSpy) for a particular show, although it might be a bit pointless when the transmission dates are only a few days apart, as in TN.

All people have to do is use the spoiler tags however.

Just, watched both episodes. Was really tense, all I can say though is it took about 10 episodes of filler to get any sort of excitement.
Episode 1 = great intro.
Episode 12 & 13 = great finale.
Episodes 2-11 = meh

If a 2nd season gets the go ahead though they have much more to work with now, I'll hold on to that and hope for the best. I'm an optimist :)

I quite enjoyed the last couple episodes but watching most of the rest was a bit of a chore at times and I ended up just sticking it on in the background while I did something else on my lappy.

I was kind of hoping it would be a bit more of a survival type series at the start with more dinosaurs (as dinosaurs are awesome) so I was a bit disappointed in that.

No doubt if they do a second season I'll still watch it though! :D

Last three episodes have bee greate. Let's hope for season two and a stronger story line and not it's biggest problem, that is follow scifi convention and only make 1 in 6 episodes anything to do with the main plot line.

the beginning of the series was entertaing. interesting idea. since then it was a bit flimsy. the last few episodes were good. essentially the story developed a bit. it suffers from the whole lack of funds. the cars, weapons etc just look like resprayed what ever. i enjoy it as a whole. mindless entertainment. its not clever or anything but fun to watch. the major guy is always great to watch. and i must say. the mum + especially the daughter. especially the daughter. shes fit
