Terrible Jaguar re-brand

Several YouTubers have made some good points as to how they are alienating the existing customer base on the one hand while the customer base they seem to be aiming this rebranding at largely doesn't exist - it is a very vocal minority. They have succeeded in getting people talking about the brand to be fair.
Thing is, if their existing base is too small to keep them afloat then what are their options? What do you make of Sutherland's point that they might be having a market *level* rethink?

What these YouTubers is saying they should be trying to keep their existing base onside while also trying to find new customers - this marketing is not going down well with their existing customer base while the customer base it is aimed at doesn't actually exist in the scale it sometimes seems and/or can't afford a Jaguar anyway even with a market level rethink.

If the market level rethink is to make much fewer super high end cars, the target market clearly will be able to afford it though. I don't think they're expecting to "stack em high and sell them pricey", to millions of progressives at all, that would obviously be mental. We're talking super luxurious, non mass market level, where the only people buying probably won't even consider cost a factor. With that in mind, a departure from their refent image to something more radical would be required.

The target of their new marketing are mostly not very well off at all - a large number living with their parents (still) due to being priced out of the housing market - albeit some might have the means to do it on finance due to not having other commitments and a nice car is often a feature there. But it is a tiny market.

Unless they were banking on playing clever with the PR someone has messed up massively - blinded by agenda maybe over the reality.

I don't understand, who are we talking about here and why are we thinking this is the new target rebrand? I'm talking Bentley and Aston fodder.

I'm confused, there is no way they are pulling Bentley or Aston customers with this new branding.

That advert didn't dent their dominance in the shaving market. I'm out of touch with that industry now, but they had something like a 60 to 70% share of market 10 years ago. I'm confident it'll be higher now based on them having 90% of space in any store selling shaving products.

They did take a hit in the aftermath of it and their share of the men's market is still slightly down, but their overall market share has rebounded sadly. I've not bought them since personally.

Have you boycotted all Procter & Gamble products?

technically if all he wanted to do was to make a statement that he found that advert insulting then there isn't a need. just the blades is enough!.
That said whilst I was no fan of the advert in question and iirc I thought it was actually quite sexist and racist I can't say I was enraged enough to boycott. (mind you I don't tend to use em anyway)
