Terror Raids

like i have said before many times...Britain has gone soft...people like this need to be "severly punished" just like the good old days of winston churchill and enoch powell...the days when britain was "great" britain

What? He's the head of the UK's Counter-Terrorism operation, he should know that a document stamped "Secret" should not be held on the outside of the folder with the information clearly visible.

You're not really that bright are you?

I would say the same thing to you really.

A mistake is a mistake, doesn't matter if you hold the nuclear codes to our entire arsenal.

Did he on purpose put the documents on display, no, was it a mistake, yes, was it in fact the papers fault for taking the photo's and then distrusting them rather then withholding them, yes.

Now some bright spark will go "well if photographers can get pictures of it, whats stopping terrorists, well simple, did any terrorists take photos? No.

Typical English/American blame culture. If there is a blame there is a claim!

I just think its a bunch of ****.

Because most of them were reputedly Pakistani's here on student visa's and this lousy government doesn't want you to know how lax out borders checks are?

Has it crossed your mind that maybe the checks were okay in this instance and they've been under surveillance since they entered the country? Chances are they may have been let to go about their business so as we could build a better picture of their contact network, etc.

I seriously hope Ms Smith doesn't use this as an excuse for more needless legislation.

You sir fail!

CTU was disbanded because of the agents illegally torturing suspects and the like, Jack got a Supeener (sp!!) and was brought before some judge bloke, when the FBI gave out another one for there control over Jack, then he went deep cover with Bill, Epic Almeida and Chloe to uncover massive corruption within the government!

Get up to date!

Anyway, back on-topic, terror raids are good, dont want my plane going BAZOOOOOM!! when im going Ibiza do we?

According to one Newspaper website I read yesterday, it wasn't going to be your plane going boom. Speculation was that they were going to be attacks on the Arndale Centre and a large Manchester nightclub - probably whilst both were packed.

As a current member of LJMU I take great offence at that. My first degree was a 2:1 BSc (Hons) Information Systems Engineering from Manchester Uni (Top Uni) with 2 IT jobs after.

After travelling I decided on a change of career and wanted to do Surveying. Since the only uni's doing surveying courses are the old poly's there's no choice but go to them.

I must admit, I had this image of a run-down uni, but I was really suprised. The staff are mostly great, the facilities are so much better than Man Uni there very pro-active with career advice.

So frankly, take your retarded comments elsewhere

Back on topic

Just had an e-mail from the uni about this today. Been told to refer all media enquiries to the press office :p

LMAO so you want to argue that LJMU has better facilities than the University of Manchester? Last time I checked the LJMU didn't have Jodrell bank - has anyone noticed a mysterious gigantic radio telescope appear in Liverpool? Have they suddenly acquired some of the fastest supercomputers in the country? When did they employ a Nobel prize winner on their staff? Have they got a swimming pool / sports facilities that have been used in the common wealth games? Man Uni's careers service is outstanding, in fact award winning, so what's your beef with it? There's being protective about the university your attending and then there's plain lying - I think you may be in danger of verging on the latter.

Anyway back on topic. Not surprised to see they've all been released but I guess, ultimately , you have to trust the security services

From my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, they have better facilities for what I've used, which is the Library, lecture rooms and IT equipment, all new in the last few years.

I fail to see how you can have an educated opinion on somewhere you haven't attended

So you think better a library (which is total nonsense as JRULM is one of the best academic libraries in the country and far far better than anything LJMU has!). In terms of IT equipment like I have said LJMU have NOTHING that compares to Manchester's supercomputing infrastructure. And lecture rooms, pfft, come on if you want to compare universities you're going to have to do better than lecture rooms:p

I'll actually second this. Comparing lecture rooms is like going to a hospital and only considering the rooms instead of staff and equipment.

Have I mentioned super computers? When would I ever use it? Jesus wept! How do you even know anything about LJMU except from your typical snobbery on poly uni's?

As far as I'm concerned your agrument is tripe, you can't comment on somewhere where you haven't been in, what do you know about LJMU lab computers? When was the last time you were there? Same goes for Library?

I've been at both Uni's and giving an honest opinion. Why would I try and downtalk my old Uni? I've never said it was bad, just prefer aspects of LJMU.

If you'd gone to both Uni's I might respect your opinion, but since you haven't.....

And you'dd be mistaken about rooms, all research shows a comfortable environment makes people feel better about being there, hence improving the overall impression of the place.

Are you dvdbunny in disguise? "typical snobbery on poly uni's?" - it's not snobbery in any way what so ever. Why would I mentioned supercomputers? Because they are essentially in many areas of research whether that be fluid dynamics, finance or biomechanics, and hence any "top" university should offer those facilities. If you honestly think that having "new" buildings makes a university any good your misguided. It's about the quality of those high end facilities and the quality of the staff they have. It's not elitism. Your argument that you cannot compare two universities unless you've attended them is deeply flawed, the RAE compares research quality - if LJMU was "better" than Manchester it would be clearly reflected in those figures.

For the record I have used the facilities at both LJMU and Manchester (as well as many other UK universities). And I can confidently say that Manchester is leaps and bounds ahead of LJMU.

Don't insult me with dvdbunny child.

So your first comment about the people who attend LJMU was not mis-guided snobbery? Your bringing in points that I've never raised to try and convince yourself your argument is right, which it isn't.

I'm saying the facilities I use at LJMU are better than the ones I used at Man Uni. I never used a supercomputer, so please explain how it possibly comes into it? Have I mentioned research status? No, I'm not saying it is, I know Man Uni is a top Uni, hence why I went there. Your arguing points with yourself.

Yet again, did I specifically say new buildings make a uni good? No, do they help, yes. Which is Man Uni is spending millions on the Oxford road campus buildings, as they help to provide an overall better learning environment.

I wasn't trying to insult you. Your reply to my (light hearted) post was that the facilities at LJMU where better than at Manchester, not that the facilities you use are better at LJMU than Manchester. The point is quite simple, the facilities that enable truly excellent research and teaching are not available at LJMU.
