Is that something that's really being pushed for here by a lot of people???? I thought that only really had traction in the US? (Trump increased funding for police last week anyway!)

We don't need to do that here, since we actually have the other social support sectors in place and unlike the US don't rely on a militarised police force to cope with most facets of social problems

Like I said a while back, totally loony ideas being thrown in with what would otherwise be a sensible cause. Sounds suspiciously like hijacking by certain people IMO. It's also incredibly naive to think that if the police were to be abolished, young black men involved in turf wars would suddenly stop stabbing each other and it'll all be rainbows and unicorns.

EDIT: That's also a hell of a lot of money that could fund further education for disadvantaged youngsters and get them out of a downward spiral. Wonder if it'll all be spent in a transparent fashion.
