Test drove a VX220 turbo today

Doubt it, they have different engines

Which is what I was thinking. Flywheel torque figures aren't really going to mean that much if the gear ratios are changing what arrives on the tarmac no?

Sorry, keep forgetting, philz is his MSN address.

I was actually saying hello to muncher and cocopops from Vx220.org

Was quite shocked to have my post deleted, since thats not usually the form in the vx forum....there its usually a hello back ;)

Anyway, i should have my na stage 2+'d soon (feel free to ask what that is) and im near bristol if this chappie wants a sound test

We also have a carting day coming up soon (if we can ever get the thing sorted out) so maybe he should pop along, steve (walkes) vxt might be of interest....

Oh, hello BTW :D

Well finally went out in Kev's Stage 3 VXT. Goddamn it's fast :D

The speed it can carry on the corners is awesome. As a fast road or track car I dont think it can be beaten for that sort of money!

anyone here remember dave (UI Iceman) and his blue VXT? on a private road I had set up for after the RR day.. we took chase of an aston martin DB7 GT... and he couldnt shake us off  :D

Not surprised, lardy GT against stripped out track car? ;)

hehe... ill be honest though steve... whatever you got for in this product range, you'll love it :)

on a serious note.. have you tried an s2000 or a boxster ? you may as well give them a go....

theres a nice porsche garage just down from Cribbs Causeway, but not sure where your local honda is, however, Honda @ Quedgely in Glos were fantastic for me (3 hr 'heres the keys, have fun, and keep the revs over 7k for giggles' kind of fantastic)

:)

we have an 'iceman' on the vx forum....

In all seriousness, a stage 3 vxt is nearing the realms of suspension/brake upgrades. Not essential, but highly recommended. Especially the 17'/16' fronts with wider stickier rubber as mentioned by Coco and muncher

personally ive always preferred the NA. But there again I would say that

Phil, if you found the Turbo hardcore, you won't like Elise, as it is quite similar to 2.2.

I thought the 111R would be more comfortable seeing as it has carpets and luxuries like air con?

You're right about the Stage 2 though. That's one of the main reasons why I'm more inclined to get a VXT instead of a 111R. If I end up getting the VXT it'll definitely be getting a Stage 2 remap and Milltek :)

Isn't eidolon's name Steve?

Yep, certainly is but on weekends it's Doris. (the Philz bit is my surname incase you were wondering why I use that nick on other forums)

I was genuinely surprised at how good the Boxster was when I drove it the other week. If noise is still an issue for you then it could be worth a drive.

Conanius, your experience at the Honda dealship couldn't be more different than mine. I was told that I couldn't even take the car out accompanied because the sales manager "doesn't like men under 25 taking the S2000 out". I'd turned up in an Elise ffs  After politely demanding to talk to the sales manager I was eventually let out on an accompanied drive which I really didn't enjoy. They did everything they could to not sell a £23000 car  Still I'm glad that there are some good Honda dealers out there, kinda restores my faith.

The guy who I bought my VX off ended up buying a Boxster some while later after his house purchase fell through and his finances changed. I saw him the other night. He said the Boxster was just like one of his Merc Limos, nice and comfortable but nowhere near as much fun as his old car.

The Honda dealer I bought the CTR from were great. Even thought the test drive was accompanied the sales guy made it clear that we should drive it like it was our own car, so we did :D

Muncher, I thought about a Boxster...........for 10 seconds then decided against it. I also considered an S2000 for slightly longer but ruled that out as one VTEC car in the house is enough, I gotta keep the turbo balance :)

Thats appauling... I turned up at about 3:30pm on a sunday, in my mudsoaked focus, lookingly slightly worse for wear with my gf feeling a bit poo.... however my opening line of 'so... ive just been to bristol looking at an imported s2000... are there any differences with the UK model that are worth me paying the extra for' got him a bit excited...

didnt even ask for the test drive, after I mentioned about teaching bekky to learn to drive in it after he said it was easy to drive he said 'well.. you may as well give it a go yourself aswell... 3 hours between yourselves next weekend? lets hope its sunny.. you could take it for a blast up through the malverns !'

genuinely the best experience sales wise I have ever had.

However Mazda couldnt get me outof the showroom to the car fast enough ('high power' rx8) .. and wouldnt shut up about how it was a performance car, and to be careful, and its rwd, and there are speed cameras, and and and and and !!! however they were disgustingly busy and just wanted to give me the keys and get on with it

id still give them a go though mate... worth it just for the test drives !

Price of all Toda stuff is high, but it is good stuff, always well researched, which is why we have to wait so long for them to churn out cams/tb's/exhausts etc. They're never in a rush.

TB's shouldn't actually be that expensive but you'll need K-Pro to orchestrate things, which is £850 delivery and dyno tuned.

Still, with the right sort of money at a nice base car - it'd be mental. S2000 chasis is a true work of art.

I've already posted about my negative experiences with a Honda dealership. I was in there getting a wheel arch liner replaced (nearly £90) and they wouldn't let me test drive a CTR. The poncy salesman said "Well we'd need to know you were actually going to buy the car before we let you drive it". That was at Holdcroft Honda in Stoke-on-Trent.

Give the S2000 a bash...Not driven one myself but they do seem pretty tunable. By the sounds of things you are a bit of a VTEC fan eidolon...it seems to be a love it or hate it thing. I know its taken me quite a while to get myself to push it a bit more and have some fun but I really like the power delivery.

Although I've not driven a turbo'd car so maybe my views will change...
