I was talking to a mate with an Elise the other day and he said the same. Not sure I could bring myself to leave it unlocked on the street. Surely that invalidates your insurance in case of theft anyway?Muncher said:I never lock any of my doors.
I don't think it is a target for thieves at all for a variety of reasons. I'd rather they just opened the door and set the alarm off than trying to do some damage such as cutting the soft top or smashing a window.
No one tries to steal them as they just don't appeal to thieves.

Obviously I understand the logic behind it, I would just feel very ill at ease, leaving such a conspicuous car, on the street, unlocked.Muncher said:If someone wants to get into any car, they will, a lock on a door is not going to stop them.
As for insurance it's no different to leaving it with the roof off and any case your insurer would have to prove you left it unlocked. Someone tries to open one of my doors, the alarm goes off, they leg it.
If the door was locked, they try the door, no luck so either smash the window, butcher the lock or worst case, slash the soft top, alarm then goes off and they leg it.
