Ive rigged up a system so i can actually text my house

Can anyone think of some good uses for this?

I only did it to see it if could be done and to test my skills so now i want to put it to some use!
 
you could tell your house how much you love it?

Do you mean you can text your home phone - or the actual house itself?????

Urm you can text my house aswell! :confused:

Most telephone service providers offer this. A computer generated voice basically says the text back to you...

Unless you've done something completely different...
 
ok sorry - i have a system rigged up so i can text a mobile device within my house, read and interpret the message and then perform an action

for example, i could text the device, get it to go to the internet, check how many new emaills i have then text me back with this number

Um text the cooker and get it to turn on and cook your dinner in it, (which you handily put in the oven that morning) while you're on the way home from work.
That sort of thing???

Pointless example :p You could do that on your phone without even touching texts.
 
hmm trying texting your microwave to find out the weather for nesxt 5 days?

Why don't you just use your smartphone? I'm guessing that because you've setup your house to do this, that you already have a phone that can do that for you.

Setup a webcam pointing into your garden or a room, connect it to your PC, have your PC send a snapshot via email to your mobile with browser - use it for security purposes. Or if your house can accept SMS, can it send MMS too?

yep but as people state, i can check emails on my phone anyway!

its more things like the oven idea

although, without the oven being networked, its gonna be hard!

If you're texting it in the first place can you not just look at the emails on your phone like I do :D
