TF2 problem

what power supply are you using?

I know that when i play this my system gets pretty hot, and asuming that it uses a fair bit of power. That its not feeding enough energy to the parts and therefore crashes it?

Heat or power issue by the sounds of it.

oldest game: 5 mins of play
newer game: 1 min of play
crysis game: die die die

Have you looked in your event viewer to see if there are any related error messages? They can help you diagnose software issues.

Could be temperature related. Run a graphics program and Everest in the background to log your hardware variables like temps, cpu utilisation etc. A good graphics program for this would be RTHDRIBL. (Google it for a free download).

Does this only happen with games or when your system is under load generally? Try running Prime95 or Orthos to stress test your rig with Everest monitoring in the background again.

Memtest is a good program for testing RAM if you think that could be where the problem lies.

Chipset/Graphics/Sound drivers should all be updated to latest versions as well as DirectX.

Good luck.

Corsair 520W. I have noticed that when the pc crashes the pc's fan are quite loud.

Not check event viewer, as they have changed it from the old XP one. I didnt really know what to look for in there?

Will try those other points raised, thanks for the advice.

Not quite sure how to run Everest monitoring in the background, take it this isnt right?

Also does RTHDRIBLE work ok with vista, as its not listed on there site off OS.

That was with msn wmp and FF running. Just opened prime and now my pc is really slow. CPU is at 100% and RAM 1.89 GB in task manager.

Arrrrgg

RTHDRIBL works fine in Vista and the CPU and Memory load is normal while running Prime. If your pc didn't crash out when you were using it but does when you game at least we know it's a graphics related problem and not a general system instability.

Run RTHDRIBL and see what your GPU temp goes up to using Everest again. It'll be interesting to see if you crash out running that. Perhaps the problem is only specific to a few games in which case a driver clean and re-install may help.

There are some great guides over at tweakguides.com including driver and Operating System guides. They are available in .PDF downloads and well worth a read.

If you go into the Event viewer after you have a crash have a look under tha 'Application' and the 'System' logs and see if anything is flagged up with a Red error icon.

It runs in a window so you can have it in full screen and still bring up the Everest page that you posted earlier. At least we can find out of your problems are being caused by excessive GPU temps that way.
