Thanks for the room asshat

C02 for the wind, but tbf thats not on what a ***** I get this on a daily basis too but luckily It hasn't caused me to get a puncture yet! Out of interest what pressure where you running on your tyres? Nice looking bike though from what I can see of it :P

Are you actually being serious? When someone does a manoeuvre that causes you to damage your car do you just let them get away with it?
Cyclist's are just as important as you on the road so why do you look down on them?

Yes I am being serious, YouTube is full of self important little oiks who like to video the traffic and get angry every time they think they've been hard done by. The car driver was very clearly a cretin, but what exactly did videoing him and swearing like a loony actually achieve? Did it teach the car driver a good lesson?

FWIW I don't look down on cyclists at all, at least not the ones that aren't complete mentalists and that don't make themselves targets.

Looks like plenty of room to me.

My "rule of the road" is that a cyclist should be tucked in enough that a normal sized saloon car should not have to swerve out and cross the white lines to overtake them.

Im not sure if that causes an issue or not.

However, I distinctly remember when I used to cycle loads, people sitting on my ass was extremely annoying when I thought there was enough space for them to pass without having to wait for oncoming traffic to be clear.

I must admit that space above looks ok, I mean, how god damn wide are your handle bars?!

In addition, if he rubs you, then hes going to scratch all his paintwork isnt he?

So in reality he probably thought that there was enough space, and you totally overreacted and flipped ur lid.

I can see both sides of it however, I used to do a lot of road cycling, but I much preferred it when cars would pass me closely instead of sitting for ages behind me waiting to swerve out.

Each to their own I suppose..

Had an asshat nearly take me out today at a crossroads. Just crossed in front of me causing me to brake hard. That was immediately after a car overtook me and turned right into the junction, I suspect she hadn't even seen me after the car turned.

Your rule of the road is contrary to the highway code.

The Highway Code said:
•give motorcyclists, cyclists and horse riders at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car (see Rules 211-215)

Every cyclist i see on the road, swerves in and out of cars, sqeezes through tiny gaps at high speed, goes through red lights and then moans and gestures if you toot the horn at him!! I can't stand cyclists where i live as they are accidents waiting to happen.

As a cyclist, idd, most of them are as big an asshat as most drivers :)

The root of the issue of car v bicycle imo lies at speed differentials.
Having a bicycle travelling at 10 mph when a car can be at 40 or 50+ mph is madness, it's an accident waiting to happen - both figuratively and literally.

Right can someone explain exactly what an "Asshat" is ?

Use your imagination :p

Video did look like a tight squeeze, if I was you I would have taken a more clear and positive route over the junction and denied anyone behind the opportunity to overtake untill AFTER the junction.

I hate the junctions where an exit has two lanes but in reality converges into one straight away, apart from roundabouts its where i've nearly had the most accidents (in a car).

If you are doing 10 miles an hour on a bike on a road, I'd question your ability to be on a road.

As others have said, do be careful of what you shout at drivers, no matter how badly they are in the wrong. I had some guy chase me down a street once. If I wasn't so weedy, I'd have killed the ******.

That's pretty bad driving really. They should have left a lot more room than they did, even with the space at the junction it was never safe to overtake there until the line of traffic was cleared and there was good visibility.

Did laugh a little at your minor explosion of unmentionable language - I think we've all had moments like that!

Bleh. Close overtake? Yeah. should have waited? Probably. His fault you got flats? Not really.

You shoulder checked to move out on the assumption nobody would be there and there was. So what was your plan if someone was...well - what happened in the video it seems :p

Some of it is (the must/must not's), but even the bits that are not (the should/should not's and the do/do not's) are used by the courts to decide liability.
Indeed, not following any of the should/should nots gives the police grounds to charge you with Careless Driving.
