what do they base there choices on ?

this year middlesbrough has become the worst place to live in in the country apparently

im obviously biased but i seriously cant see how that is true

also how big does the place need to be to be on it . the other small towns near middlesbrough are far far worse places for a start

anyway this articles good http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7046579.stm

ill always love the place

I live in Newham, which was ranked third worst.

I can see why it was chosen - poor schools, high crime, etc. I certainly wouldn't want to raise kids around here.

However, there's things that the survey didn't consider. Things like transport links and future potential. Stratford (aka the "good" bit of Newham :p) already has fantastic rail, tube and bus links. Soon it'll even boast an international rail service. It's also got the Olympics coming and there's a lot of money being invested. As a young adult with no kids, it's actually a pretty good place to live.

Different people have different priorities.

yes i watched it and at the time i think notts was one of the worst in reality but didnt come where i thought it would in the program.

It's always Hull, its a complete hole. I live in nottingham and they hack our tv network so im forced to watch there bloody news.

Edit: ooohhh 500th post :D

The program on tonight and live, its has those stuck up southern **** presenting it.

I would never live down south, over priced place with some of the most ignorant people going.

The Look north news is pretty good, but I can see how its as relevant to you as a bicycle is to a fish :)

I am surprised Boston hasn't got it.. I did go to Middlesborough a few years back and was truly glad to be alive and with all my appendages intact when I left

OCuk HQ's is in the 13th worst place to live. Stoke on Trent.
cant complain too much its my home town!!!

Only 13th? They obviously took Stoke-on-Trent as a whole then and didn't just classify Stoke. I'm born and bred in Stoke itself, 35 years now, and it's a complete ****hole these days!

Although when people ask for directions to the 'City Centre' I do like directing them to Stoke rather than Hanley. :p

Quiet, northerner! :p

On a serious note, i'd agree with you, a lot of the people around West Sussex are very stuck up, we seem to have a large amount of whinging elderly. Recently the area has developed worrying support of UKIP and Horsham has it's first BNP candidate, probably due to the fact that a family of immigrants (Down here immigrants can probably include anyone north of Sussex :p) moved into the area. Immigrants is shocking news for a county that has statistically 97% white people : /

I would actually hate to live in london, i cant stand it. I think the "Meet the Natives" show explained it rather well.

Nottingham is 4th worst, up from 7th! Yay, the only way is up! ;)

Seriously though, Nottingham (the Nottingham that this TV programme is based upon) can be very rough because of the boundaries. West Bridgford, for example, is a brisk walk to the city centre yet is not classed as 'Nottingham'. It's still Nottingham on their postcode and on their address though.

I have to agree with you mate, nottingham is a train wreak, its full of chavs, sl*** and MP's who think "modernising" a town is putting signs up saying "village hall this way"

I can't see anywhere being a worse place to live than London.

Sorry Londoners, I just don't like the place at all ... it is the most dirty, unfriendly place I have ever visited on my travels. I'm sure all of the inhabitants are not like that though.
