The 100mm F2.8L IS Macro image thread

Anyone else got a tracking number with HDNL that doesn't work?
Mine is supposed to get here Wednesday, that's the last time I am cheap and go supersaver!
 
I've been playing tonight, but havent put anything through lightroom yet (focusing on another project for now). Really easy to throw the background in to a nice creamy bokehlicious soup at high magnificiation and F2.8.

Critically sharp at F2.8 so far also. Ive only been peeking in at 100% on the LCD but Ive never felt once I should be stopping down because Im missing sharpness. I will certainly need to get some kind of protection on the front element ASAP as I find myself getting ridiculously close to things.
 
Good news that you lot are getting such a bargain, I paid over £600 for mine a couple of years ago.
Just a question about how you're mounting them, hand held, monopod or tripod and what sorts of heads.

Initial impressions

Sharp lens. Insane close focal distance (as it should be), snappy focus speed. Top half above the focus ring is plastic? The hood also seem to be be finished slightly different on the outside than my other lenses. It's more matt than gloss. It feels fine in the hand but my Non-L 45/TSE is built more solid than this.

The whole barrel is plastic it seems to me Ray, not just the front part. I read somewhere that the name plate was metal but it doesn't seem to be either. I am not at all disappointed in the build quality though, and Im not even going to qualify that by saying "at this price".

I am much happier with a lens of this kind of weight attached to the Mark III than the 900g+ of the 24-70mmL. This lens is giving me weird desires - the past two morning Ive been waking up hoping for ice and heavy frost LOL!
 
Im glad to hear it mate, would have been a shame if yours didnt materialise!

As for my wish for snow - it seems that some came overnight!! ...Just none left in North London by the time I woke up :(

Off to Italy tomorrow, I was hoping it would be here by then but I guess it won't now :( Still my fault I should not have gone for free delivery. Lesson learnt!

I got one as do all my lenses but not sure if it is really needed here if you have the hood on when using it.

It is so feep and narrow that you can't even get the lens cap off with the hood attached.
