I might, although i'm only tight because of that nerve making everything go into spasm.

A tennis ball should work aswell and is soft enough.

I just want my new shoes to arrive, I want to get use to them early on.

Also, I'm going to start going front squats again, can't backsquat on that silly decline smiths here so that'll do. Since I basically have to do a reset of my lifts I can slowly build that up as well.

####EDIT!:: Just ordered my Adidas Power Perfect II's form Sugarrays.co.uk. It was £90 pound, saved me £10 compared to Pullum-Sports, also cheaper then in Ireland.

Strangely if you go to Pullum and select the currency are Euro the shoe €145 euro, which with the exchange rate is about £130. That's a mental increase. I'm glad I ordered from Sugarrays.

Anyway I hope they arrive soon and I'll give you folks a mini review.

are those shoes just for squatting or can you use them for standing shoulder press/other exercises too?

flat is better for deadlifting, so im thinking i use my vibrams for deadlifting and these adidas for squatting and shoulder press. i can use my normal trainers for all other isolation stuff.

i have a knee injury so i dont want to exasperate the problem by using the wrong type of shoe for an exercise. going to get more of the insoles the physio gave me from the internet they are like £3 for a pair and buy like 10 pairs for all of my shoes/trainers to help with arch support and foot pronation. they aren't amazing, but better than doing nothing about it.

Neither, its just niggles like hell...Feels like it wants to move around more than it should =/...Hurts above the knee more really, swear I have ligament problems there as i've been to the physio about it before.

I tend to get shin splints after i've exercised, like a day or two after :p...Cycling isn;t too bad for me, but when my knee was really bad it hurt like hell :(

Meh, problem with cross trainers is that I need to pay to use them! ;)

if your having those problems, most likely have improper shoes, and your stance and movement is all wrong, you would need to get a bio mechanical evaluation done by a specialist to find out exactly where it is that your going wrong. get your GP to refer you.

you could also have a collapsed arch (flat footed), which can cause a lot of problems.

They're for all Olympic lifts and used at the Olympics. These types of shoes are usually only made in batches for the Olympics. Cept for the cheap Do-Wins.

Also flats are only good for deadlifts to reduce the ROM, although a slight raised heal ingages the quads making it even easier.

Remember the deadlift is the starting move in most Olympic lifts.

It's also down to each persons build and body type.

These shoes won't make an injury worse at all, they're designed and made for competing athletes.

these look better

http://www.sugarrays.co.uk/shop/adidas-adistar-weightlifting-shoe-08.html

you can even tell by the picture they have arch support, the other adidas dont look like they have any.

They both have them the Adistars are just a model from 2007/8 that still feature a wooden heel.

As the new ones are all polymer based heels and support. The same polymer used for handgun construction and won't crack like the wooden ones use to.

Although the best thing for someone like you with foot problems is to go and try them on if you can. Do some BW squats in them and see how they feel.

I'm going for the Power Perfect II's as they're replacing the Iron Work III's and the next Adistar will probably also feature the full polymer heel and support.

knowing I had weetabix in work and the canteen always has the milk machine full before end of day, i decided i'd devour lots of weetabix.......

NO MILK!!!!

A lesson to everyone. Weetabix with water tastes gash. Horrible.

So I raided the vending machine as well :D

Flying out to Greece on Saturday morning. Been running 8k a day with daily increments of 500m to drop the last bit of stubborn weight. But to be honest, I'm very happy with where I am right now and would settle for this. Having my last workout on Friday where I'm going to blitz my whole body and that will be it. The hotel we're staying at has a lovely gym so I might do light weights if the mood takes me but there's no guarantees that I'd be arsed to do so :p

Another successfull day with my back.
I can't call it training though, it's more a glorified warmup considering the little weights.

Clean and press
Bar x10
35kg x5
45kg x5
55kg x5 ( Felt a tiny niggle after it so I dropped back down)
45kg x5
45kg x5
45kg x5

Side Lateral Raises
9kg x5
11kg x5
12kg x5
12kg x5
12kg x5

Upright Rows
40kg x5
40kg x5
40kg x5

Shrugs
40kg x10
40kg x10
40kg x10

Followed by Thoracic Spine mobilty exercises on the foam roller, along with rolling for my back and legs. Then all the stretches.

I'm happy, my back didn't tighten up like it did in the past, and felt even better compared to yesterday.

Time to ice it again and feast on chicken!

just keep on taking it easy for a while, or even dont do anything for a while, the body is designed to survive and heal, so some time off and taking it easy will do it great. i know you love the gym but sometimes you just have to step away for your own good.

when i hurt my shoulder doing standing shoulder presses i couldnt even open a door the next day with the hand connected to that arm, so i took a month off, luckily i think it was just a small injury, it clicks now sometimes when i move it a lot after it has stayed still for a while but it gives zero problems when lifting.

the back is something you seriously dont want to mess with, i would stick extremely light if anything.

I've been taking it off for 2 weeks and both doctors have advised me since day one to keep moving and to start some training this week.

Taking off with a back just makes it heal impropperly, no doctor would ever advise doing nothing for it.

I just wish I had my shoes already so I could have start the physio with them and get use them early on.

I also tried doing nothing once with an injury and the severe tendonitis in my arm took nearly a year to heal, while with physio and keeping active my pulled tendon in my knee was back to 100% in 2-3 weeks. I even put up my current best squat at 175kg the week after I finished physio and I've had zero problems since.

Very important lesson learnt for me today. Sunburn is bad for training, squats with burnt back and shoulders = agony and wanting to cry like a little girl.

lmfao :D
i want to say 'suck it up, pussy!', but I know what you are going through from past experience. So as a one off here..... I don't blame you for crying like a little girl :p

Of course you can blame him, he shouldn't have gotten burnt haha.

Just be happy the bar on your traps didn't peel any skin off. Ugh
