You don't need to bench massively, but you do need accessible weight.
I guess it depends on what machines the place has and what type of weights it uses.
I've not been to many gyms where there is an abundance of 1" standard weight plates tbh.

When I was training before Christmas at home, I dont use an Oly bar, but I have enough weight for myself...

An oly bar just increases the weight due to the weight of the oly bar itself

Unless you're on about something different entirely :p

Thats at your home, where your equipment is tailored to you :P

I'm talking about a gym where the place only has 1 oly bar but has a cage, I'm thinking that should it have any plate loaded equipement then it would be oly plates that they use, meaning limited amount of non oly plates to use on the non oly bar.
Afterall, most non oly bars arent rated to well for weight they can lift :)

Yesterday was a personal best with deadlifts and the first time I've tried them in around 9 months. My goodness my back has severe DOMS! Been up and down since 4am, it's sore no matter how I sit, lie or stand. Agony. :(

Finished the first workout of second week of HST 15s last night, no one was lying about how much it beats you up and leaves you panting an sweating like crazy !

The deads specifically at that rep range is tough, and front squats tire me like no other. But oh hell it's fun, forgotten how much I love DOMS after 3 months of stronglifts :p

The girth of the oly bar is also larger (ooer)

So Deadlifting 60kg with an oly bar is a little harder then with a standard one :)

Forgot to post this yesterday. We were having a chat in the gym about the fact that it is unlikely that I'll get into uni this year (did poo last year :() and I was joking that I would stay at the club and smash all of the records (just FYI they are Squat: 232.5kg, Bench: I think 160kg, and Deadlift: 292.5kg) :p. Then we were looking through the qualification criteria for national level for several different federations and guess what...

... I qualify!! It's nothing that special cause it's not a big total but for juniors (18-23) in the BDPF the entry criteria is a total 0f 412.5kg :). I just think its kinda cool :p. I got a total of 417.5 in my first comp with 2 months of training :). I might go for it, I'm not sure though, I can't make my mind up

Do it! Although you probably could have guessed my opinion...

You'll be deadlifting 200kg pretty damn soon, and your squat will keep climbing provided you man up and get your head right. Bench just needs time. Besides, it would be awesome to get to say you qualified no matter what you lifted.

:p:p

I'd hardly describe myself as that!?! Anyone got any comments for me, or do I need to provide more info?

You need to work out your BMR rather than your BMI :p that'l give you an idea of how many kcals you need to maintain a weight then you can work out how much to lower it by to begin loosing weight.

A lot of the flavoured waters are full of sugar. Far from healthy at all. Though it is still low calorie given the total amount of kcals in it, especially compared to a full fat bottle of coke for example.
It's crap labelling and the allowance is a joke.

Just like 'low fat' foods, low in fat by high in crap carbs.

I've stayed well clear of any of that crappy "health" food. I learnt very quickly that it is deliberately made difficult to see what is actually in prepared foods and so I cook my own stuff from raw ingredients. The difference in taste alone is well worth it.

As for drinks, I stick to tap water tbh. Even though it's hard to tell what crap is added to that too.

I dont see what everyones problem is with water, I cant get enough of the stuff, definately the easiest thing to have.

Have to agree there! It's free, and depending on where you are in the country, tastes damn good! Best is when it comes out ice cold from the tap. Mmmm.
Either that, or I drink Robinson's orange squash. The sugar free stuff. And diet Irn-Bru. I know it's full of crap, but there's practically no calories, and you can't live in Scotland and not drink Irn-Bru now and again :p

Thinking about going on 5x5 for the last stone of my cut, been having fantastic gains physique wise but strength isnt changing to much of recent ( since im sub 1800 calories every day ) taking adequate protein though so will wait for a few responses here.

Currently doing 1x10 ( warmup ) then 3x8.( Pyramidding backwards )

My water tastes absolutely fine, head 5 minutes up the road to my GFs parents newer estate and it tastes rank! So, I can see why some folk have a hard time drinking it :p

I always keep a bottle in the fridge filled with tap water even now we've got a fridge with a chilled water dispenser, its all about it being icy cool

Oh quite, I drink close to 3litres daily - I was just poking a dig at the water suppliers and the number of chemicals used to clean, and then remove the cleaning agents they use, and even flavour the water so it doesn't taste "wrong". As well as the idea that some authorities think that adding fluoride to the water supply is a good idea and so forth :)
