Thinking about going on 5x5 for the last stone of my cut, been having fantastic gains physique wise but strength isnt changing to much of recent ( since im sub 1800 calories every day ) taking adequate protein though so will wait for a few responses here.

Currently doing 1x10 ( warmup ) then 3x8.( Pyramidding backwards )

Personally I wouldn't actually worry about it. But this is really one of those situations where it's entirely up to you.

I would probably keep doing what I was doing until done with the cut, or play around with the pyramid slightly (12, 10, 8, 6, for example) and then do lower reps afterwards. Only because you've had good progress so far.

A gentle remind for us all to use the catchers on smiths!

I'd asked if I could hop in between two other people using the smith as I had two quick sets of calf raises to do which would take me 3 minutes tops (no rack at the gym) and it was the penultimate exercise of my workout. So there I am rushing away, I come to rack after my first set and somehow had completely missed the hooks and found myself very quickly being 'bent over backwards' by just under 100KG. Not particulary heavy but when it's stressing the vertebrae in your back which are immovable it is! Luckily I'd set the catchers and it bounced back up off them (spring catchers 4tw) a split second before seriously jarring my back or even worse rupturing a disc or breaking part of my back

Very easily could have put myself out for months by a) rushing and b) not paying proper attention to racking the bar properly. First time in 3 years I've been caught out and hopefully the only and last!

Glad you're okay Benny :)

Whether I like it or not, I'm getting a pretty intense upper body workout at school. There's a game that's sweeping round that if you say the word 'mine' then you have to do 10 press ups. The most common ways of getting people are 'Who's calculator is that?'

and

'~How do you like your eggs in the morning?~'

I got had 3 times in Chemistry and had to do 30 press ups, teacher wasn't best pleased :p

How does that question result in the answer "mine"? My mind immediately goes to the glib response of 'unfertilised'.

And what school lets you do press ups in class? At the risk of sounding like an old fogey any teacher at my school would have sent me out for disrupting the class if not worse.

Squat: 172.5kgx5x5
Pullups: bw+20kgx5x5
Dips: bw+50kgx5x3
Arnold press: 35kgx5x5 (was meant to be HC2PP but grip is still raped from deadlifting with fat bar)

Done.

I almost don't want to say this, but I also really do: squat PB will increase by 60kg in a year :D

Sounds like you've been playing 'International Drinking Rules' but without any alcohol!

Mothers first names.
Drink with your opposite hand.
Can't say 'mine'
No pointing.

All good ones.

Had a good session today :).

My squat which I have been struggling with was interesting. I had planned to do 127.5kg but me being retarded and all I put 137.5kg on by mistake no worry though, I smashed out the first too sets without realising until someone said that it looked good and asked the weight. Did throw me off a bit there considering my old pb for 5 was 125kg and the fact that I just didn't notice. Oh well :p.

Rest of the session was good:
Pullups: bw+25 5x5
Dips: bw+32.5 5x5
HC2PP: 62.5 5x5 < Almost made me cry doing these :(

Oh and I also completely forgot to take my Jack3d so I have a bottle of it in the kitchen. Does anyone know if it will last till Friday?

Seems as though my earlier gripes about muscle soreness after my first heavy deadlifts in around a year have become a bit more severe. Woken by pain at 4am this morning and it's became increasingly worse ever since. This isn't DOMS. My entire right hand lower back is swollen and in utter agony. I can barely walk on my right leg, can't bend over and doing simple tasks is a nightmare.

Pulled muscle? I can't think of technical term for what this might be? Anything suggestions on terms I could google for more answers?

I'm currently on diazepam, pain relief rubs and other pain killers(without going into details).

If it's not better by the morning, it'll be an emergency appointment for me.

Owch sorry to hear that mate, sounds painful. Could just be torn ligaments or something like that, or maybe a small hernia? Definitely get it checked out properly though, don't take chance when it comes to your back.

...snip...

All good ones.

As are:
No swearing under penalty of a forfeit
Can't say drink (must use another phrase - imbibe, consume etc)
"Oh my ears" (applies to anyone putting down a glass and if someone else can hear it then a forfeit of two fingers is required)
All drinks must be the length of your index finger away from the edge of the table at all times for safety
Can't refer to anyone by name but must use a description, preferably vaguely derogatory but not offensive e.g. the foppish gentleman with the penchant for overly tight t-shirts

I think about 5 or 6 rules is really about the sweet spot though, any more than that and it gets a bit too complicated so people either stop following them or just get drunk too quickly.

Sounds live a severely strained muscle. I did this to my traps by cracking my neck whilst getting up in the middle of a night for a wee. Took about 8-9 days to ease up again. Had practically no mobility in my neck and it was very painful.

Ours are a little different!

- No first names
- Drink with left hand and pinkie flared (Kinda gay but its funny)
- Can't say drink under ANY circumstance
- No swearing
- No pointing

hungry! want food! gonna do a back/legs and shoulder workout tonight. no messing with fancy exercises, just simple ones for quite a few sets

squats - 5x10
powercleans - 5x10
push press - 5x10
lat pull/seated row superset - 3x10
calf raises - feel the burn then hold it for longer

Bit of a daft question, but what Gym bags do you guys use?

I've got one of these:
2m4606e.jpg

But am now suffering from problems in my shoulder/back because of the lop-sidedness of carrying one of those on one shoulder. Going to get a ruck sack but a) don't want to look a tit, and b) not sure if I can get one big enough that won't look like a bergen.

Going to be looking at a few gyms tonight, I didn't do much in the last gym - could hardly get on any of the machines.

Ended up doing the following:

28.6kg x 14 reps, then 12 reps then 10 reps curls on the cable pull down

Bent Over Rows - 56kg x 12 reps, then 10 reps then 7 reps on the same cable machine

Pull ups -10 reps, then 7 reps then 4 reps

Going to be tying a weight to me next time I do my Pullups :)

So packed in the gym though that my TP and myself soon lost our spirit and are leaving this gym within the month.

Shoulder/Back problems from carrying a bag?! You're not carrying the actually weights to the gym in it are you?:D
