Shoulder/Back problems from carrying a bag?! You're not carrying the actually weights to the gym in it are you?:D

It's just about heavy enough to cause me some issues after all this time. Probably because of the wet towel I carry home in it. :p I don't carry much in there:

T-Shirt
Shorts/Tracksuit trousers.
Pants + socks
Trainers
Towel
Flip-flops so I don't catch verrucas etc. in changing room/showers.
Weight Gloves and wrist straps.
Book to read on train.

Its called prolonged use...wearing a two strap bag with one strap for x amount of time can cause issue, it basically twists you

I use an old rucksack for the gym. It became just a sports bag for me. I was actually doing the reverse of you. I want to find a good hold all type arrangement because soon I will have a belt on top of the things I bring now so I need more room. Anyone suggest anything sturdy?

Get out of my thread!!

But my poor hands :( Seriously, I rip at least one callous off my hands every week on chest day :p (that's the only day I use them!)

Ahhh fiddlesticks! My bench has gone up almost 30% over the past couple of months. I'm convinced I can get my 1RM at 120KG in a few weeks BUT my shoulder is now officially gone. I stopped doing shoulder work since Aug and it was healing but something really upset it. Absolutely gutted. I can't sleep properly or even push a door. A huge blow to the year already. Shoulders used to be one of my strongest attributes. Now, I can't do chest or shoulders at all. FML :(

Off to the doctors tomorrow. My clavicle seems to have popped out :(

I'm rather ****ed at the moment.

My second week back to training since the holidays and that 210kg Deadlift barely escaped me! I just couldn't lock it out, was about 1-2inches from it. But just couldn't push through with my hips. Grrr

Last week I was managed upto 180kg no problem at all, given it was my first day back.

Maybe in a month I'll be back on form and get that bugger out.

So I burried my sorrows in food, had a huge chicken wrap i made and chicken and veg stirfry with loads of rice. That 210 shall be MINE!
Unlucky man, it sounds like you know how to get there with the right attitude. That's half of the battle.

Oh and btw: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18106824&postcount=7144 :D

DS: I totally agree about Stronglifts. The whole website and community has a great vibe without being in any way "superior". You can tell the guy's happy about helping out so many people get stronger. I think it's fantastic that so many people have come around to a more "pure" form of strength traning as a foundation.:)
Spot on. Members on the whole are just a lot friendlier. They all want each other to succeed. It's rare you see that!

Another rather random question from me - How much of the neck MUscles do Shrugs exercise?

The reason I ask is because I'm 5,8 and 80 Kilograms but I have a massive neck for my size and always have - since I was the smallest kid in school I could never find a school shirt that fitted as the shirt looked like a tent and the neck barely fitted.

I don't want my neck to get all that much bigger by the Shrugs!

Traps go up to the top of the neck, to more than half-way down your back, and span across to your shoulders. This could be why they think the shrug affects neck muscles?

Your collar will sit on your traps though so big traps will affect your collar size but not massively. Don't forget the traps are diamond shaped and come down in between your shoulder blades too :)

Fair enough, seems like it will be fine then :)
My neck size is 17 inches, so dont wanna look silly when I start bulking.

I haven't deadlifted in a few weeks but I came back today for a PB, 180kg x 1 at 85kg, no straps, no belt, didn't even remember my chalk!

Genes are genes. If it's within yours to have a henchen neck then embrace it and decorate it with gold chains.

LOL, well I did contemplate capitalising on it, but I would cause too much hassle finding shirts that fit ( work in IT business analysis and project management , so I wear suits now and then) ... nevermind wetsuits! ( i surf) ... I AINT GETTING ON NO PLANE FOOL
