The 2012 hayfever thread

Piriteze has yet to fail me. I stock up in autumn when its buy 1 pack get 10 free*.

*Money saving offer may be exaggerated.

Mien kicks in during mid-late afternoon, sneezing fits galore.

Feels frikkin awesome though.

Sleeping with tissue up my nose isn't favoured though.

I seem to be more of a tree-pollen sufferer and this year it seems to have hit me in fits and starts due to the random weather. The only tablets that seemt to do anything are Piriton or Piriteze, Clarityn and the others don't relieve anything at all.

Luckily I don't get affected that badly, or at least as badly as some people I have seen. Weirdly, wearing contact lenses seems to help stop the eye itching symptoms that I used to have awful issues with.

Diphenhydramine is the only antihistamine that works for me. I get it on prescription, have to take it the night before though as it knocks me for six. I am an extreme sufferer though, I was hospitalised several times from it as a kid.

Beconase + a cetrizine hydrochloride works without fail although this year I haven't yet bought the Beconase, so I'm really suffering this morning!

i just got mine.. tesco shelves are pretty much empty :D but they have tescos own nose spray and its exactly the same as the baconase :) and 2 quid cheaper

I've been using local honey 3 times a day for the last 3 years during . It used to be really bad and kicked my asthma in.

I had my first Asthma attack in about 10 years last week, it seems my hayfever and a few other factors made it kick in. :( Back to keeping a pump in case because that scared the **** out of me!

On topic: I usually take Zirtec but I'm not sure if they're working. Whatever happened to the jab you used to be able to get years ago? I've been told they don't do it anymore by my local surgery.

I was on the overground two weeks ago, first time on it. All of a sudden my eye starting itching realy bad. by the time i got to richmond my eye was all swollen and has been itching ever since off and on. If i take hayfever tablets it gets better but it kind of feels like something is in my eye.

I asked my GP, after my 3rd visit to A&E, if they could test and tell me exactly which strains of pollen I'm allergic to. Like you, I got told this wasn't done anymore (along with the jab) due to high costs.
