Question:

We have a challenge at work: 50 pull ups, 50 push ups, 50 sit ups, 50 squats.
You have to complete all of one exercise before moving onto the other.

I wanted to smash 8 minutes but got 9:09 :( took me 5 minutes alone just on the pull ups.
I'm going to have another shot at it though because the day I tried it it was 8pm and all I had for the day were a few fish fingers xD
So my question, and I know it will vary person to person, but roughly, what would be the optimum time for rest and how many reps in each set?
I think I made the mistake of doing 2 big sets to failure (12 and 8ish) then I had to squeeze out 2-3 reps everytime before taking a short rest.

Even at sets of 5 with a thirty second rest you'll be building up lactic acid and still only achieving a 5 minute time. Thing with pull ups is to simply weigh as little as possible - out of all those lifts, it's the only one that heavily favours those that weigh a thimble, regardless of their strength/muscle mass.

Which would work long term by all means, I think as a technique to help you beat the challenge within a week or month, you're probably between a rock and a hard place.

FWIW, I'd struggle to do more than 8 pull ups, so this challenge would scupper me regardless of how easy I found the rest.

So decided to jump on the mobility bandwagon and start a daily mobility and stretching program in order to help my flexibility.

until today i never actually realised just how inflexible i really am, looking forward to changing that.

Fair comment. But it's all about the long term! :D

Not for this challenge. I have until the 15th. :p

What do you reckon about 10 sets of 5 every 20 seconds or so? That would put me at about 4 minutes giving an extra 30 seconds for towards the end, then smash out the rest.

I was doing them quite strictly so I just had a look on YT at doing butterfly pull ups. I'll give those a shot before my next attempt.

19.5 kg lost so far.

MMA this morning. Skipping bear crawls plus some dead lifting followed by bar bell rows and pull ups. Then a good sparring session followed by stretching.

Yesterday I dropped into a weightlifting gym with a mate and did a good hour finishing off with 140kg dead lift.

I've gone full fat man past few weeks in the hunt for gains. Gains were found.

137.5kg(B) squat up from 122.5kg two weeks ago.

152.5kg(B) deadlift up from a sluggish 147.5kg four weeks ago.

Put on lots of water weight and have been eating everything in sight so weight is higher than expected due to fluctuations but I'm sitting at 71.7kg this morning.

Dreamforger -------------------- 82.5 / 137.5(B) / 152.5(B) -------- [71.7] ---- 372.5

Grats man, awesome work

Thank you all :D

71kg - welcome to normal world! What's that - +5 on not that long ago?

I think it's a 5kg gain in about 12 weeks, give or take a bit. I've massively increased my carb intake as my activity levels have gone through the roof and it seems to be the best way to try and bulk and attempt to improve my lifts. But because of taking in so many carbs, my weight fluctuates 'a fair bit' (depends what you consider that to be tbh) so some mornings I'm mid 70's, other's I'm high 71's for now. Hopefully the weight will keep going on and I'll be a bowling ball in no time.

More on that deadlift too :D nice work! The shoes for the deads are they the reebok crossfit/pl shoes? How do you find them?

I got the shoes from the Reebok website. When on the site click crossfit under the shoes category, under the men's tab, and then on the left hand side make sure "power" is ticked to filter the shoes.

Either you're surprised by my lifts for my body weight, the fact that I'm quite light or the fact that I consider this little bodyweight to be a fluctuation :p Not everyone can be as big as you :( I can try to be though ;)

Hopefully there will be more to come!

It was the statement of being fat while weighing under 72kg and you're a little taller than me iirc I'll just go back to the beach with the other whales :p

Nice work on the lifts though great improvements for such a small amount of time, the power of MOAR food is strong.
