You misunderstand. I didn't say I am disregarding what the physio is asking me to do and just doing my own thing. I've been working with the rubber band and doing my MAT stuff for the past three months. I just thought I'd incorporate some very very light presses in to the routine to try and build up some strength.

Just stop. Please - for your shoulder's sake - just stop. I am not turning this into a medical thread to explain why the "very very light presses" are a really bad idea, but trust the opinion of the professionals on this.

I won't post again in this regard, so I really hope you pay attention.

Bulgarian Split Squats are great / awful *delete as appropriate

Yes. They are the best/worst exercise going (*delete as appropriate).

And Bagpuss can't claim I told you first... ;)

Yay! :D

Just a bench needed and about another 60kg of weights and I'll be all set. Still have lots of space left in the garage - but actually is quite useful to have space left. In due course I will enlarge garage but for now, this will do :)

OK noted.

Oh and paint those walls it will make a massive difference

I don't want or need a mirror! :p

I will paint and seal floor in due course. I just want to get lifting again.

Deep in Kent where everything is closed on a Sunday, and livestock in the fields. It's ace. Hated being in a city.

Yea, still lurking, just not much time to post much! :)

Apologies reiyushin, just wondering if ya could give a quick recommendation or two for my deadlifting to bring it on. Its on a recent previous page. Have put me routine up and would be grateful for some pointers please

Sure, glad to help where I can;

Do you pull conventional or sumo?
How often do you deadlift?
When did you last taper and peak?

What's the nearest big town relative to you? You might be near me <3 although I'm more the bit where it's rural behind me and increasingly urban going up towards the big smoke so you must be well in the sticks!

I'm getting back into the gym yet again...

I've been doing deadlifts mostly and I've been wondering if anyone uses stiff legged deadlifts as their regular deadlift form?

I've never really felt comfortable doing deadlifts, and because of that I never committed much time to them, but I've started doing only stiff legged deadlifts and I'm making progress quick.

They've been the most comfortable, least physically stressful deadlifts I've ever done that leave me feeling sore in a good way rather than an over exerted sort of soreness, which is how I'd sometimes feel in the past.

If you're talking about the kind of SLDL which is basically an RDL off the floor, with the bar starting a little further in front of the foot than a regular DL then yes, I use them as my main posterior chain movement on the heavier/lower-rep day of my upper/lower split (do RDLs on the higher rep day), since conventional deadlifts don't really fit into that kind of split very well and I'm not really interested in powerlifting. I really like them - can really feel the hamstrings fire and get a solid glute bar hump at the top.

Tom Martin swears by them although he allows a bit more back rounding since the idea is to get stronger in the position you'd find yourself in with a less than perfect conventional DL.

Is there a way to work out how many calories you should be eating when lifting, like there is for losing weight? I've lost almost all the weight i wanted to lose (moobs and gut are gone :D) and have been doing stronglifts but feel like i'll need to eat more to actually start progressing in strength now rather than using it to lose weight.

I'm 5'7", 71KG and was eating 1500cals for a few months, have upped it to 2000 over the past couple of weeks but that's probably not enough. I just don't want to over-do it and end up putting fat back on :)

Damn that's a little far for me to lend you 60kg of plates till I need them :(

The paint is for the walls, get them painted white, couple of coats makes a massive difference!

You can live without the mirror, if you change your mind though this was the cheapest I found for the size.

Cheers very much :)

I pull conventional (hitching fine)
Deadlift every 9-10days (almost always same routine for DL but with boltons like partials or upper back seated rows about 100kg-120kg per stack depending on fatigue)
I peaked last year but at the moment have hit my ceiling and it just wont or rather I don't want to risk pulling bigger and getting a fail as negatives don't really do anything for deadlifting.

I'm around Edenbridge. So Tonbridge or East Grinders are probably the nearest big towns.

I can still borrow them if you want ;)

I know the paint is for the walls :p however I want to seal the floor too. :)

Factoring in fuel and time it becomes a little pointless, if you are around my way you are welcome to drop by, obviously when they are needed again it would require a return journey/drop off when you are in the area.

You are welcome to trust me if you want to arrange something :)
