1 rest day? How hard are you going at the gym?

I'd say i work relatively hard, but again, it's hard to find information that doesn't conflict on-line and from people i know as everyone and everything i read is different,i went with one rest day as that's what i was told to do when i first started months ago

Do Stronglifts with chin-ups and you'll have everything you need from a workout. :)

What are you maximum squat, deadlift bench press and strict press?

Squat: 90kg
Deadlift: 110kg
Bench: 70kg

I haven't actually tried a strict press, just youtubed it and i'll give it a go :)

You would probably benefit from doing something like Stronglifts for a couple of months to just focus on the big compound lifts.

This will do more than just strengthen your muscles, but also increase your central drive (I.e your nervous system's ability to stimulate the muscles), meaning you will be able to lift heavier stuff more intensively.

Meaning greater gains. :)

I switched from my normal haphazard routine to Stronglifts a few weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. At first it felt like I wasn't doing enough exercises but now I'm getting heavier weights I'm knackered and sweating pints at the end of it

Body weight 93kg

Squat 70kg
Bench 67.5kg
OHP 40kg
Deadlift 110kg

I should be squatting more but I get jelly legs, a couple of months of not really doing much in the way of legs has let me down there I think.

Thanks i'll look into it :), forgot to mention, i currently weigh 73kg.

Been aggressively going after improved hip mobility these last couple of weeks and my god does it hurt to walk but it might be starting to pay off :) hoping to get a better and stronger starting position for my sumo pull out of it.

So about average for a normal guy in the gym for five months, I guess.

Your squat and bench are not bad for your stats, but your deadlift is pretty appalling... Do more strong stuff. :D

I could probably go higher, just haven't pushed myself past 110kg, i'll report back to you next time i deadlift, also i'll work more on the stronglifts, thanks for the advice :)

I miss deadlifting :( I think I'll be crawling back to my old gym this weekend, they've got an offer till the end of the month that saves the £20 joining fee and gets me my first 3 months half price so that's not quite as wallet destroying.

You aren't living if you're not deadlifting.

I only use my gym for heavy big three.

Out of curiosity where in the west mids are you?

This is a fantastic video.

I bought The Zane Body training manual book on my kindle today and it's very good. Frank Zane was best olympia ever.

Tried his training today and focused on stretching between sets and it got an awesome pump going.

Back to the gym tomorrow having not been able to go since Tuesday. Feels like an age. Trying for my new maximum deadlift weight tomorrow, I wonder how much I have increased my max following the 4 week routine.

Edit: Well I added 15kg onto my max following the 4 week program, so very happy with that. Especially given my lack of progress with deadlifting this year.

Nice work. :)

Sometimes a little break and recovery is all you need. :)
