I just put an order in for a mirafit swiss bar. Bit of a whim and unplanned. Do any of you use swiss bars and what do you like do with 'em?

I liked the one I had but I didn't feel it was really adding much to a workout. Great if you have crappy shoulders, a neutral grip is kinder when pressing.

Cool ta.

Pleased with yesterday's deadlift session as I got to 180kg for first time and no bother. Felt like there was some room but didn't push it.

How had I not noticed how good the lighting in the work bathrooms was before?

Arms looking surprisingly lean for a 112kg fatty :D

I think I have to accept that if I want to squat and deadlift I'm going to suffer.

Going to try and get some videos at the weekend hopefully you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

You don't have to squat and deadlift to build a great physique :)

I know. I'm really trying to get powerlifting strong though. Getting a good physique takes too long. Seeing those numbers rise is quicker. :p

I may have to stop with the squats and deadlifts if it gets too much though. I figure I must be doing something wrong.

Take it from someone who did powerlifting (and competed), unless you're trying to compete you don't need to perform those lifts. Especially if they are causing you pain.

I look better than when I did powerlifting; I don't deadlift (well conventional, I do RDL) and my squats are geared towards growth (so not heavy). My bench press is the only lift that is respectable but I love the lift.

Fair enough. My plan was to finish stronglifts then move to a hypertrophy routine anyway. I was hoping to include squats/deads in it but maybe I'll try something without. I think I'm a bit old to pack on loads of muscle while only able to train 3 days a week anyway but it's fun to mix things up I guess.

Well I'm currently doing 2 upper days 2 lower days. I'm thinking one day high weight low reps. One day medium weight high reps.

Is that good for actual muscle growth?

Tried some strongman stuff today for the first time.
- the inside of my forearms looks like I've been hit by a car
- the tacky stuff you use for the atlas stones is messy AF, needed to shower in white spirit afterwards
- the stones themselves are a b1tch to lift, and the fixed height of the platform you plop them off is heightist to manlets (just suck at the top bit of the lift tbh)
- tyre flipping is fun once I got the technique down, same for log press

Everything about it feels awkward! I like my boring barbell/DB/machine/cable stuff. Such a bro.

Good man. Strongman stuff is awesome - and yes you end up with bruises and pains you never knew your body existed!

How the devil are you? The only man to ever (almost) drive me bicurious.

Almost? Must try harder. You are still one of the sexiest men I've ever met.

I'm really well - couple of kids, and work keeping me sane... or insane. I've mildly fallen back in love with lifting again as @LiE can attest to.

I'm in a good place actually - considering the **** that this year has brought, I'm feeling rather good.
