THE 50K CHALLENGE: NEW MUSTANG ON THE WAY, BUT WOULD 50K BE BETTER SPENT ON ANOTHER MARQUE?

The interior on that TTRS is fantastic. Not sure on the wheels though!
I think that GTS would have worked better with yellow stitching to match the exterior. Red looks a bit too much, but I actually prefer being in the Porsche. You tend to sit on an Audi, you sit in a Porsche.

Problem is, TTRS might have good headline figures... but it's probably the most boring car to drive of any mentioned in this thread... equivalent to a Golf / Scirocco / S3.

I'd never pay that much for something so boring... not worth more than £30k brand new.

For the money they want for that TTRS... you could get a brand new M4 Comp Pack and that is in a different league.

I had a similar dilemma myself last week. Narrowed it down to a nearly new MX5 or a 2012 TTS.

Thought to myself - yes I'm sure the MX5 will feel better balanced on the open country roads, but how much of my driving warrants having a 'fun' car to drive? 5% maybe? If I'm lucky. Why bother with that when a TTS would be a much better place to be the other 95% of the time? With performance that would blow the MX5 away to boot.

Came down to a sensible choice for me in the end I suppose and I bought the TTS. Don't regret it one bit. If most of your driving is on roads where you can drive at silly speeds and throw it into corners getting the back end sliding around then fair enough - buy something fun.

Bit more of an event cos of the 5 pot noise and the speed that goes with it.

Its a great base for tuning too.

Yeah the noise is a bit nicer... but the driving dynamics don't improve and it's a very numb experience which is why I would never be interested in one... it's acceptable, don't get me wrong, it's a good car... but yes, for the same money... many better things to be had.

Poor Mal X. I think it was the ALL CAPS thread title which pushed him over the edge.

Don't ban the poor chap though.

No thoughts on throwing the 50k into a deposit for a Lambo Huracan?

50k on a ford is too much regardless of performance. In fact, buying any ford new is a waste, wait for second hand and save some cash.

Also... only real answers are an old 911 c* or a GTR. Vantage is too much money for the right one. F type is a woman's car I'm afraid, and not much different to the German rep fleet you're trying to be different to.

Ah see I'm the other way, I only see women driing them. And to be fair the early ones were only good in the looks and not performance so that could have contributed.

They are quite girly though aren't they. Like the TT.

I'd have said that a powerful RWD coupe, many of which have more power than they can put down is the exact definition of NOT a lady's car! The TT is based on the same platform as the Golf, and comes in FWD and diesel versions. Those can be girlie cars. The F-Type? No, not at all.

NVP, can you clarify what you mean when you say the early ones did not have good performance? Is 340-380bhp (0-60 in 5 seconds) not enough for the entry point of a sports car range? And that was just the V6. There was a V8 as well.

That's like saying do not spend money on a GTR because it is a Nissan or do not buy a Vette because it is a Vauxhall.

A Mustang maybe a Ford but it is really its own marque.
Yeh that's not quite what I said.

Adding to what you've said, the GTR was great at its initial price, now it's expensive.

This mustang is just expensive.

The V6 press car I drove was loud and nice looking but unfortunately no go. The new V8 has the power the car deserves and I would love to give it a drive.

And because it is RWD with a bit of power doesn't mean it isn't a girls car - why you be so sexist? It looks like a girls car and loads of women drive them.

I appreciate others may not like this opinion.
