Hi there

SHINNY BEEEEEE!!!

Good write up, now I look forward to experiencing your 911 Turbo. I've got a test drive this Sunday morning in a 996 Turbo at Porsche Wilmslow and then back in the RS4 and S5 sunday afternoon. :)

Gibbo please let us know how the RS4 drives, my bro is seriously thinking of getting one soon and even im contemplating on it myself...was thinking of holding on for the new M3 but theres just something about the RS4 that gives me a thrill:p.

Which reminds me to pop over to the Docklands Audi and set up a test drive on the RS4 for me and my bro but sadly they havent any in stock the last time i checked.

...Next week I will honour my car with a Tubi exhaust upgrade. I will look forward to that howling banshee wail as I decimate all and sundry that cross my path....
Hi Spie,

Firstly, love the car, congratulations. A 911 of some sorts has been my desktop for the last few years and gives me the inspiration to keep working each morning! One day....

How come you are changing the exhaust so quickly? What is it about the Tubi one that is so good? Is it just the sound or the performance? Also what happens to the original exhaust? Do you get an exchange price for it or bung it on an auction site....I am guessing that a 911TT exhaust is worth a few thousand itself?! And finally, will you be able to take a sound recording so we can hear the difference?

Well according to what Spie said earlier in this thread or his other thread, the tubi exhaust gives you another 20bhp on top...so i suppose he will be running 500bhp rather than the 480bhp that comes with the car.

Saying that though, the tubi exhaust is extremely loud...well on the carrera 4s i saw it on...it hurt my ears but my god it sounded absolutely divine..enough to give me a hard on of sorts:p.

Hi there

To summarise my RS4 experience is that the cars build quality is simply amazing, in fact I'd rank it higher than BMW, such a solid feeling to the car and very nice interior. The car is quick, does not necessarily feel it but the speedo goes round in a very short fashion. Obviously 4WD gives great of the mark traction and lots of grip in the corners.

Downsides was it kinda felt disconnected from the road, steering lacked communication and is not particular precise or quick. Its basically an easy car to drive very quick but does not take much driver involvement and did not really make me grin, it was just all too civilised. For more info see my thread:-

Cheers Gibbo mate, ill have a look later at the thread you posted...its not the first time ive heard that about the driving capabilities of the RS4. From what i have been reading, it does seem to be very much a civilised car which is a shame but then everyone has different ideas as to what they want from a car.
Will have to sort out a test drive soon, well as soon as the audi dealership can get a rs4 in stock. They seem to sell out quick here in the Docklands...

Awesome idea!

Buy another one, one for the week, one for sunday best...

And you can lend me your sunday one for the rest of the week...

??

I love the 911 turbo, but I prefer soft tops

Summary

* Likes: Crazy, rocket-ship performance, surprisingly smooth power delivery, the faces of frightened children.
* Dislikes: ASBO exhaust, near dangerous acceleration, inevitable driving ban and prison.

Read about that. Quite frankly that is just ridiculous :D

The normal 911 Turbo gives more power than anyone can handle.

How would a Arial Atom supercharged compare to 911 Turbo?

HI there

The Atom would destroy it, plain and simple. Unless were talking at speeds greater than say 150-160mph but as thats put yourself in jail speeds it does not really matter.

To give you an idea the Atom 300 does 0-60 in sub 3s, in fact I think 2.5s is possible and it will hit 100mph in about 6s. The Atom 300 is basically as quick as a Veyron upto 100mph but on a track especially one with corners the Atom will pretty much destroy any car.

On the Top gear track the Atom is one of the fastest cars to go round it, around 10s quicker than a 911 Turbo.

However the Atom is a toy or a dedicated track car. You can go to the shops in an Atom, you can't go driving in the winter in one. Well you could do the above but you'd be mental and hardcore. :D

The Porsche as Spie has already said does everything and to absolute perfection as well. :)

Hi there

A 911 gives more power than anyone can handle? What a load of cobblers.

In that case explain how F1 drivers handle F1 cars. What about the Veyron?

The 911 Turbo is 480BHP and it has 4WD so it puts its power down without issue and the chassis handles it fine.

The new 911 Turbo chassis can handle just under 600BHP, when you push over 600BHP then you go beyond what the chassis can cope with and as such the car won't get much quicker on a track. But will continue to get quicker in a straight line, a 997 Turbo pushing 850ish horsepower will hit 100mph from a standstill in about 5.5-6s which is Veyron performance.

I've got a 530BHP Mustang which is RWD and has no fancy electronic gadgets to keep me on the black stuff, yet I cope fine and I use it everyday. It has far more power going to the tarmac than the 911 Turbo does, infact 460 horses reach the tarmac in the Mustang in comparison to the 911's 380-400 horses hitting the tarmec.

If and when I do move to a Z06 my tuning is already lined up and the results from such tuning results in 650-700BHP, which is close to 600 horses hitting the tarmec, thankfully the 345 rear section tyres hook the power up. The car is fine with this and with time, practice I would learn how to handle its power. :)
