The 911 Turbo

very nice car there spie very nice car indeed cannot say im not a huge porsche fan lol, was just speaking to my mate on msn about the turbo and mentioned that you just got one and he said if you ever fancy learning how to take the car to the limit on the track then to get in touch with him, he was 2006 FIA GT3 Champion in a 997 GT3 Cup and is currently running in the FIA GT championship in a 997 RSR http://www.seanedwardsracing.com/index.php?p=Getcontent&catid=10

The Atom 300 is basically as quick as a Veyron upto 100mph but on a track especially one with corners the Atom will pretty much destroy any car.

Veyron has 4wd so should get there even quicker?
Around a lot of tracks with most drivers I agree except on the top gear track it wasnt #1 due to too many high speed straights I guess

# 1:17.6 – Koenigsegg CCX (w/TG Wing)
# 1:18.4 – Pagani Zonda F
# 1:18.9 – Maserati MC12
# 1.19.0 – Enzo Ferrari
# 1:19.5 – Ariel Atom 2 300
# 1:19.8 - Lamborghini Murciélago LP640
# 1:19.8 – Porsche Carrera GT

That atom vid says 6.5secs 0-100 and wiki says 5.5 for the veyron

Hi there

The top speed does no doubt help, but I'd also say the cars above the Atom in that list are sublime handling vehicles and no doubt they had damn good corner speeds too.

Plus for the price of one of those supercars you could buy a whole fleet of Atom 300's. :D

Also in that Atom video it does 0-100mph in 6.5s but using 2nd gear, maybe its possible to get quicker if they were to use 1st?

1 second difference for a car 39 times cheaper. I would rather have the Atom. At least if I damage it I wouldn't break down crying like a baby.

And they say Hi-Fi high-end prices are inflated for slight increase in sound quality.

I'd rather have the veyron and enjoy the comfort but obviously for the money the atom is amazing. I think its less practical then a motorbike though, I doubt that they sell that many of them because its just too extreme.

Theres a good story behind it, it was a uni project and was so good the lecturer formed a company to sell it

You'd have to be a hell of a driver. 1st gear in a standard Civic Type-R can be tricky to keep traction. It uses the same gearbox too.

Maybe the different engine config (rear engined) helps a bit in that respect

Maybe, not by much I wouldn't have thought. A lot of Type-R drivers fit a kPro ECU which has launch control at about 5500rpm.

I need to read up on the Atom. I might steal their setup ideals and apply them to the boot of my Type-R :D

Now you just need to get it on Pimp My Ride and get them to 'throwdown' some 'mad' flame decals on the side to truly make your 'whip' 'hot'. 'Holla'

having the engine in the middle helps a massive amount for traction off the line. drive any mid engined car hard and you will find that out straight away!

the atom is setup for performance with no comprimises. the type-r is just a hot hatch. - FWD, front engined, all weather tyres, much higher centre of gravity etc. etc.

I followed a 911 Turbo exactly like Spie's today. Same colour although he didn't have the blue lips.

I decided to keep on following him and hope he was heading for the NSL zone (with overtaking lane) past my town. He did. I didn't even know it was possible for a car to accelerate so quickly. I was absolutely gob smacked. The car is one absolute animal. The sheer noise it makes just going through town at low revs in incredible too.

I captured it on video on my phone and would share but it is riddeled by various swear words shouted out by myself in amazement and I don't have the facilities on my new laptop to remove them yet :(

Here's a pic I took instead...

Going through Town

When I first saw him, coming up River Hill. Unfortunately there was a queue of traffic because of a truck on the left, but usually I see some awesome cars overtake past people on this road.

Ive seen an old renault turbo 5 overtake half a dozen cars on a hill like that.

You could post the video with keyword riddeled, just dont give the direct link :D

I managed to edit out the swearies but I don't know where to upload it for free?

The thing about that particular hill is that photo was taken right at the top, before that it is really quite steep. Several months back I witnessed another 911 Turbo and an Aston Martin burn the hell out of several cars, moving in and out and dodging the traffic on the other side like kids in a video game. It's crazy!

If you have a fast car it really is a great peice of road to have fun on. My dad always shoves his 530d in to sports mode and rockets past anything not doing at least 60mph and it's good fun. The bit at the bottom is single lane but the visibility makes overtaking safe if the other side is clear, then it goes into dual lane as shown by the picture, but only for a very short space of time. (Probably designed to let cars get past lorries/busses NOT for hsbc ceo VS natwest ceo to have their boy races) :D

I love the 911 turbo, but I prefer soft tops

Summary

* Likes: Crazy, rocket-ship performance, surprisingly smooth power delivery, the faces of frightened children.
* Dislikes: ASBO exhaust, near dangerous acceleration, inevitable driving ban and prison.

600g/km CO2 emissions. Awesome!
