The Ada Lovelace RTX 4090 Owners Thread

I use a 7600x CPU (while waiting for next gen) and at 4k it's been wonderful. Clocks to 5.4 ghz. Never been limited by having 6 cores. According to Tech Power Up doing so only loses 10%, performance max. Not worth paying hundreds more IMO.

You find that running a 4090 on a 7600 "wonderful"? It's a huge bottleneck at 4k with RT, I posted proof of my experience in the post you quoted. Also "hundreds" more is not correct, you can get a 7700 for £60 more, which would be infinitely better.

I guess I should look at it another way. There's someone out there putting part worn tyres on a Ferrari. Someone using a black & white TV and calling it "wonderful". Who am I to judge such wisdom? :D

That's just hyperbole. A 7700 has around +5% a 7600x for 4k Gaming, if that. Let's test some games and I'll prove it. Sounds like you have a bottleneck or some system configuration wrong tbh.

Sooooo, thinking on going towards the 4090 bandwagon before its too late ( all the rumors on AMD and Nvidia not having an enthusiast card on the next portfolio ) ...

I'm towards 3 cards:

- Zotac 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO
- Gigabyte 4090 Gaming OC
- KFA2 4090 ST V2 1-Click yada yada...

Not going to the halo versions since, i never had a good experience with those anyway ( always expecting golden chips, and at the end, they oc'ed as well as "lower" tier cards ).

I'm trying to stay on the same price range, before going to upwords 2k euros cards like strix and similar.

What do you think from those 3 ... ? Any help would be awesome :D thank you!

I'd personally avoid Gigabyte as there are more reports from repair people on YouTube that Gigabyte PCB's are cracking near the PCI-e slot.

KFA2 is the European arm of Galax who makes the ludicrously over engineered Hall of Fame cards so can't go wrong with them and Zotac I have no experience with.

Thanks Dice!
Do you have any other models i could add to my list with the requirements ( price sensitive, and good build overall without going towards the top dogs? )

If you are looking at cards in the price range of the Zotac 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO I'd also give the Founders Edition a look, I obtained one a few months ago and it's honestly fantastic.

yeah, but in Portugal it's hard to get it ... and going to amazon Germany and such ... they are priced around 2200-2300 Euros ... vs 1600-1900 for the others in my list :( sucks ...

Founders edition is really loud compared to the better AIB cards, so you're not missing out on much! It does look great though.

Can i get flopped on the list please chaps.

Kaapstad hasn't been on in nearly 3 months and I highly doubt he will make a return any time soon due to growing bored of PC tech. I'm hoping the mods/admin will give someone who is very active on the forums the ability to edit and update these threads.

I can understand why, seems like a lot of rinse and repeat these days.

Tech companies gouging their userbase relentlessly

Yup - unfortunately the prices have gone through the roof recently.

You should have been around in the early nineties, you think prices are bad now for PC components, they were shocking back then.

One example, I had a 486 DX33 CPU, upgraded to a 486 DX66 in 1992, cost me £600!

According to google, those 1992 600 pounds would be around £1500 today, think about that.
