The Air Rifles & Pistols thread

Ive got myself a AA S200 .177 with a few ally mods. Got a JSR 3-9X32 PX IR scope. Been graphed at 11.45 Ft/Per/lb which isnt bad!

heres a few (rather bad) pictures. Proven at 75 walking pace's using a JSB exact pellet.

I have a few air rifles. Got a HW97k (stage 1 venom tuned), BSA Lightning (with a custom stock i made myself) and a Cometa 300. I used to have a really nice Webley Venom Sidewinder with a walnut stock but i sold it and really regret it now. Can post pics if anyone interested.

I don't go to any clubs but have a 45 meter range in my garden that i occasionally have a shoot out on. Going to look into joining a club this summer and getting a PCP.

What pellet are you using at that range mate? Whats the accuracy like at that sort of distance? .22 Or .177 ?

Why didn't you get an FAC back then? Simply owning the pistol was justification so you'd have got it, I used it as a way of expanding my armoury so that it now contains a lot more than just the Brococks (of which I have a quantity :))

Young, foolish, parents house :p

Looking back I should have. I only found out about the ban coming in by catching an editorial in AirGunner magazine. I panicked a bit and took it into the local police station. It was funny to see the desk clerk's face when I pulled the pistol case from my bag.

It was a beautiful Orion 6 with walnut grips and full cylinder. 18 cartages. Now that gave a good workout when I only had the slimjim pump!

My HW97k is .177 and i use Field & Target Trophies. Ive also had good results with Daystate pellets as well and Lazadomes (which i believe are the same pellet). I get pretty good groups at 45 meters, can easily put the pellet through the centre of a CD without breaking it time after time.

Ive also got a rat target that they use for HFT and can knock that down at that range time after time.

My lightning is a .22 and Ive fitted a Chambers tuning kit to it. Made a stock for it out of an old door frame. Not as accurate but can still get very good groupings using Lazadomes. Can easily knock the 40mm HTT target down consistently.

:eek:I would have been so gutted giving all that kit away like that. Could you not have sold it to someone who had a FAC?

As I said I panicked.
I did try the local gun shop but he wouldn't touch it. I would have given it to someone with a FAC if I knew one. The most depressing thing was that it will have been destroyed.

I've got a receipt from the police for it somewhere. I thought maybe I'd be able to get some compensation but no.

I've a HW77k which I've had for years, myself & a couple of mates decided one day to get air rifles. Surprised we did as in NI a FAC is required regardless of ft/lbs. Haven't used it in ages but when the wee guys a bit older I'll take him out with it.

Edit: Just re-read my post. When I mean take him out with it I don't mean I'm gonna shoot him. :D

That's a real shame, far too many of those were cut up five years ago.

You could give it away or sell it up to a certain date, but after that any kind of trading, even gifting was banned. Brococks are strictly owner only now, the only things that will happen to mine is that I'll own them forever. I can't even pass them on to my children. If I give up my FAC then they'll get cut into pieces.

14 Shot, 200 Bar (I fill from a diving bottle) 3-9 x 50 Mil Dot Hawke Pro-Stalk scope.

HW100T I think is the proper name, the T stands for Thumbhole, I'm a left handed shooter and the sporter stock only comes in Right handed so I had to go for this model as its ambidextrous

I paid £550 about 6 months ago from a fellow shooter who had about 6 different air rifles! he didn't like the size of the gun so bought himself a new Carbine model (much smaller air tank)

I saved a lot of retail for what was literally a new gun! :D

I had a Gamo CFX until recently i changed it for a HW97K( both in .177)

the Gamo is not bad,but the HW97K is in another league:D

it came from Germany with a shortened spring with only 7.5 Joules
so I bought a FAC VMatch kit from BAR,and also I "buttoned" the piston with "Delrin bottoms";)

I bought a Bushnell Legend 5-15/40 AO( also from BAR) very nice scope, but heavy
gun and scope weight around 5 kilos:D

I think the power now is around 21 Joules ( 950 fps)
great gun,very accurate and consistent

I use it mostly for pest control,I hit sparrows at 45/50 yards( they drop like stones)
I always rest the front of the stock of the gun at a window, wall, three, etc, because it´s too heavy to hold still just with my arms
( that´s why it has already a lot of scratches on the front,I use it almost everyday)

also at 25/30 yards doves drop like stones too, with a well placed shot in the head ,neck or in the chest
but I have killed a few at 65/70 yards, with some lucky shots

Top: Theoben Evolution .177 with Evolution/Vortex silencer, dampa scope mount and Hawke SR6 3-12x44 AO
Bottom: Webley (before they went bust) Xocet .22 with standard mounts, Hawke Reflex 3-10x44 midot and Stinger Lamp

At some point I will be after a PCP, most likely a Theoben Rapid of some form - MFR or Rapid MK1. I like the agricultural functionality of the MK1; good solid workhorse, I'd be afraid of scratching an MFR :o

If I ever get my own place there'll be room for a shottie too, clay pigeons are too much fun

Had a few air rifles here and there, but my best 2 guns were my Lanber 12b Over and Under shotgun, and my CZ American 452 .17hmr bolt action (5-shot) rimfire rifle :).

All fully licenced

Pic of an Orion please so I can have a quick cry over what was lost. :(

Ah well my rifle has gone in for a service, and polish up. I bet I see a rat on the bird table in the next week! Anyone loan me something! ;)

Yeah I used to do match shooting.
Did have an anshutz CA 2002 years back, lovely thing, but my parents sold it as soon as they decided they didn't like the people at the club so i had to stop going, yeah, nice. Their money paid for it though so what you gonna do, i'm surprised they had the cash to pay for it in the first place.

Recently got back into shooting with my HW77 that i got 20 years ago as a kid:)
Using the same scope i got back then too...Nikko Sterling gold crown 4x40

Cost me £220 back then but the gun alone is now over £300 new...nice to see something hold their price unlike computer bits.

It was firing a bit rough/smokey (15 years without use) so i got a chrono to check power...14ftlbs:eek: dam that stupid ox main spring that was popular back then.

Swiftly got a vmach kit for it (new spring/guide/top hat and piston seal) and its now nice and legal and shoots a lot smoother.

Taking care of the local rabbit poplutaion. (all done with landowners permission of course)

None go to waste as my cats love them boiled.

Got 14 this week so far....not bad for a 20 year old gun :)

Guessing it wouldnt be allowed to post pictures of dead bunnies?:p
