*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

TBH i find myself falling asleep with the ipad , i am waiting for the iphone 4 like all of you , and i sold my 3gs just so i can get the ip4 , but , no matter how good the iphone 4 is i can use my ipad to watch movies, play games, web browse .
where as the iphone is good for checking emails etc
Apple as always seem to think , ah well people can use the ip4 to record movies in 720 hd etc etc and play them back on the great ipad screen .
i am still in love with the gardian app , the photos are amazing ! and the screen is just blow away clear , and with the os4 update for autum it will only get better .
I am not an apple fan boy , infact until i got my 3gs (thats sold) a month ago i had never owned an apple product !

oh on a side note any one here with an asus motherboard is there pc?
they now have a program to download that charges your iphonr ipod touch etc 50% faster than normal through the usb port , and get this , it also charges the ipad from the usb !!!! ohhh good times1!

Has anyone found a decent dslr shoulder bag that can also hold an iPad and isn't massive?

Been looking for the past couple of weeks as I'm off on holiday in a few weeks and want to be able to walk around with both. Crumplers seem to small, or too big, and most of the other stuff looks like my granddads school bag!

Been in bed since Thursday with a very bad back. iPad has been a godsend!

Got daily express every morning via press reader.
Browsed web.
Replied to work emails.
Played games.
Used iBooks to start on the wheel of time series.
Looking for more cool apps.
Browsing maps.
Making a spreadsheet for expenditures.
Watched iplayer.
Watched live tv with tvcatchup.

Don't even have to worry about the battery.

This thing is truly the greatest gadget ever!!

So you've had a good chance to test battery life then or did you do all this whilst connected to charger?

Not sure if this is me being a bit anal or not but had to do my first charge on Saturday night so left it charging over night roughly 2am till 11am, fired it up for the first time at around 6pm when I went round my parents house and between then and now the battery is now at 74%. Seems when I first got it a good 4/5 hours worth of browsing still had me in the nineties :(

Like I said it might just me being a bit anal/paranoid :o

Still loving it though :)

Battery has been superb!! I had a charger next to me and I only charged it at night. I occasionally topped it up when having something to eat.

The lead isn't long enough to charge while I'm in bed comfortably. It sits on the floor next to the bed while charging.

Lol at daily express.

I must say that press reader is great. Especially at weekend papers are 59p.

how long does the battery last without charge ?

wondering how it would fare on a 11 hour flight to the USA without a charger.

I haven't timed it but its 9 hours EASY, 10 if yiu turn down the brightness a little and put it in airplane mode.

Apple has been conservative with the 10 hours claim actually, rather than up to, i think that's almost like average!

I've used 2 hours and 10 min now and it's at 77% with 3G.

how high is your lightness normally then? I would say on my ipod touch its like 60-75% maybe

It is as good as Raymond says MrLol. Can't fault it. It goes down about 5% an hour if your reading a book on low brightness.

I just loaded the first page of the random image thread and it was very smooth with no issues and that's at 80 posts per page.

As I don't own an iPhone and thus unsure what problem you are referring to, I maybe missing something.

It takes ages to load the images into memory so if you scroll down quick(ish) you just get the chequerboard.

I don't know what the iPhone problem is, but the iPad is quite slow at loading gallery threads. The chequerboard background is present as it loads the information underneath. If you scroll back up it also see the chequerboard background.

I think the iPad could do with a bit more memory.

I had a go on a colleagues iPad and it kept up in the gallery thread unless I scrolled like a demon so it is improved but the next iPad needs more RAM.

Used iBooks to start on the wheel of time series.

That should keep you occupied for a small while.:p

One of the main reasons for me getting an iPad is as an eBook reader (no space left in the house for more books) and as I already have a few via the Kindle Store on my iPhone I am looking forward to both the eBooks and Kindle App on the iPad.

OK stop drinking too heavily from the Apple Kool-Aid. :o;)

I know but it does all those things I mentioned just so damn well!!

iPad addiction is a terrible thing.

Does anyone know where you can pick one of these up in London? I've been on the waiting list thing at the Regent Street store since mid last week - is that normal?

Website indicate 7-10 working days before they'll even ship it so I guess there are very low stock levels?

What about the other 2 stores in London or the other one, or how ever many there are! Or the main pc shop everyone knows might have them
