*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

They can be linked to iTunes using the remote application on the app store. Not sure about WMP or WMC. Obviously though you can use it as a mouse by various applications.

How you guys deal with backups? Every time I sync my 64gb iPad wants to spend over an hour backing up stuff which I already have on my HD. Why isnt there an option to backup everything BUT the media?

Mine took forever to sync one time but since then its only a few seconds.. i've never even used a backup though so =/

To anyone who bought an iPad from the States, did you have to pay sales tax on top of the purchase price? (Might be a silly question).

My iPad was being weird last night.

The battery was down to 20% so I stuck it on charge and went to bed. It would then reboot itself, spending about 2 minutes on the Apple Logo screen. Then go to sleep for a few minutes, and then reboot again. Rinse and repeat.
Each time it made the "now charging" sound, and the screen is really bright so in the end I unplugged it as I wanted to sleep!

Yep.

Yep.

I see, thanks. I've been contemplating getting a Wifi iPad for some time. I'm travelling to the states in a couple of months and thought I might pick one up there but after doing the calculations, I would save about £100 on the 64Gb model. It's a significant saving but probably not enough to wait as well as having a non UK version.

Anyone with the 32Gb version regret not getting the 64Gb version?

I saved about £100 by getting my 64GB 3G in the 'states.

And got it before they were launched here :p

Aye it's how Apple get their hooks in you. I see from your sig your an Android man. I am as well but once my iPhone 4 is delivered I shall have fully converted to the dark side.

Typed on my iPad whilst lounging on the settee watching a really crap film on Sky Anytime.

I'm still android for my phone, and I really wanted a windows 7 tablet, but nothing good out there yet. Happy with the iPad for now tho :)

Just bought a 32Gb Wifi today, haven't set it up yet, will do it tomorrow when I'm fresher. ;)

One question though, if you have multiple people using the iPad, can you set multiple email profiles, ie multiple gmail account on the device simultaneously?

Not as far as I'm aware. But one person could use the app and the other could just use gmail site and log out. While the app person could use restrictions to lock the app program. I have a jail broken app so I can lock every app from springboard with number/letter passwords

Is there a way to see a list of all the apps/games you have purchased? I had quite a lot off stuff when I had an iPhone but can not remember half of them :/

iTunes? If iPhone purchases have been installed then the application tab in iTunes will list them. Tbh though most won't work well with iPad so will take up a small amount of space on screen.

Is there no other way than in iTunes? (At work so carn't install it, is there a portable version?)

Are all iPhone apps that you have payed for free for the iPad? Ive downloaded logmein for the iPad and it didn't charge me (I had the iPhone version when it first came out)

You can have multiple email accounts on the Mail App.

I've got my Gmail, MobileMe, Hotmail, and an IMAP account from my website all on my iPhone & iPad. There's nothing stopping you from having multiple Gmail accounts either.

The only thing is that there's no concept of users on the iPad. So the Mail App will always be downloading emails from all of the email accounts.

Personally I really wish they would add in a concept of users. Not because I'm trying to keep stuff private from other users of it, but because it would just be so much more convenient if you could say "I'm Ed" and then Mail defaults to Ed's accounts, websites use Ed's cookies, Facebook App logs in to Ed's profile, etc etc.

Umm. As far as i am aware, no.

It totally depends. For example angry birds is 59p for iPhone but if you want iPhone version you have to pay (£3 iirc) But its known as Angry Birds HD (i think again) Other things will have the same name still and won't cost you anything if you have already purchased them. For example airvideo. On the AppStore there will be a '+' by the application image, that means it works fully on the iPad and iPhone. So if you have purchased a + app you will be fine. You can be fine with apps which don't have the + but as i said they will be small or rubbish quality so.

Hope this makes some sence

It was the issue of multiple users I was wondering about. Okay then I'll put one persons account in the Mail App and others can just use the web interface.
