hi guys. i am in the states at the moment and am looking into buying an ipad! just a couple of questions...;

1) are there any problems with me buying the 3g version here and bringing it home?

2) i cant decide if the 3g version is worth it. i cant see the ipad being used anywhere but my house...anybody bought a wifi only and regretted it?

3) is it pointless going for the 16gb ver?

in over my head here! sorry for no caps - on my android!
 
1. People in this very thread have bought a US 3G iPad and it works fine over here.

2. I don't regret not buying a 3G version but if i was buying again I'd spend the extra £100. Though I can tether it to my Android phone and use the 3G there (though I just ordered an iPhone 4 so no idea if I'll be able to do it on that).

3. I bought a 32gb and haven't used half the memory so could have easily got the 16gb version but it's nice to have the extra memory just in case.

I have the wifi only and would buy it again over a 3G. If I do decide the countless hotspots in most places aren't good enough, I'll buy a mifi unit and use that. 3 charge £40-70 for theirs depending on payg or tariff.

Nope :D

I got my 3G 64GB from the 'States before they were out here. Had some colleagues in the 'States and they got on the store waiting list at the beginning of the week and one was available at the end of the week.

Haven't had any problems using it here at all :cool:. Only slight issue was that back when I got it no UK cellular providers did Micro-SIMs yet as the iPad wasn't out here, so I had to chop down a full-sized SIM.
 
Omg :O.... this is ridiculous

I have 7.18GB off Apps.. 16gb device uhh fail :( Well 14GB technically.

1.8GB off other, so jailbroken stuff im presuming (yourtube downloader possibly)

EDIT: Umm I have 2.1GB of videos downloaded from MiTube so thats then 5GB of apps left, and i had around a GB from CineXPlayer which i jsut deleted. Also i found Bright Puzzle HD is 455MB :O That's stupidly high - delete

guys is there a way to stop itunes from optimizing(sp) my photos from aperture ??? i only have a few projects synced with it but its destroying them and degrading them enough to notice on the ipad :mad:

2) Being able to connect to the internet pretty much anywhere is very valuable. Especially if you sync your google mail + calendar over exchange. If you always have a tethering-capable phone with you then that'd do the job just as well. If its never going to leave the house, again there's no need for 3G.

3) I have about 15GB of music, and 16GB of audio books. Therefore I got the 64GB 3G version. Look at what you're going to store on the device and get one with room to spare. If you don't know, 32GB would be a nice balance between price and storage space. I wouldn't go for the 16GB version.

Most likely no. But the application i think its called Friendly Facebook or something (its in the top 10 paid apps) that has a slideshow mode and goes through albums. Costs a few pound though, but getting better
 
Well i can log in. Favourites are there, i only have 1 subscription name on the left lol but a load of videos from other people on the right.,
 
Anyone noticed since the last update the 3G going a bit funny, it constantly hangs, And ite like trying to reconnect again. I am in the same spot, not moving and the signal just comes and goes a lot, whe a month ago it was stable.
