*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Excellent, prices about what I was expecting, so going put in my order for a 32GB 3G version on Monday.

Tempted to get one from an apple shop on day of release, but can't be bothered to queue especially as there'll be a risk that they'd run out of them in the shop before it was my turn.

The sad thing is that the early adopters that buy one in the UK will only confirm it.

Fixed ;).

Apart from Space Cowboy's word of the Apple Store Manager, do we have any proof yet that the iPad warranty is like the Macs (international) rather than the iPhones (country you bought it in only, even if it's available internationally).

It's a shame the HP Slate got cancelled, I blame the Palm buyout for that because now they're going to out a WebOS powered device instead of Win7, why pay MS license fees when they don't have to eh?

Shame too about the iPad prices, just watched a jailbroken iPad video of some kid playing SNES using a Wiimote!

Decent prices from Apple for UK customers! Tempted now to get a 16GB when they come out!

For people working out the prices you don't just get $499/1.47(exchange rate) and theres your price. You have to add on US sales tax and VAT. So a $499 = ~£422 using a 6% US sales tax and 17.5% VAT. Not bad price is it?

tsinc I believe so too. I dont know why people are saying that its not good for UK :(

Question is... which one to go for... and also whats the word on data tarrifs for 3G?

Also, is there a possibility to take the sim out and put on a PAYG data sim from O2 for example?

Also if you preorder do you get it on day of release? Or do you collect it from a store?

What do you mean 'proof'? Apple customer services have already confirmed it'll be covered when released in the UK.

The iphones specifially say in the small print that warranty is only available in the country you buy it in, the ipad does not.

Nope as the iPad uses the new Micro SIM standard.

UK prices turned out not to bad so looks like a 32GB WiFi for me. Don't need the 3G as I'll be using a MiFi.

Plus you can get microsims from mobile operators too.

But I want to know if its possible to do this? I.e. to use a PAYG type sim in an iPad or is this not allowed or something?

Any word on what kind of tarrifs will be available for these things? Or they not selling these things bundled with tarrifs and leave it to you to sort out your contract or payg?

Suspect it will be similar to what USA have. 2 Plans, one for 200-400MB Data Plan for like 9.99 and then £24.99 for Unlimited. Rolling Monthly Contract.

Yes but how will they know if I take out the sim and bung in a PAYG?
(Just playing devils advocate here).

Also if you buy the 3G version from apple then there is no primary operator youre hooked into surely? I.e. you go and find your provider and just stick the sim into the iPad?
