*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Ok so i used a friends address but most people are justing using hotel addresses since they are easy to find online.

Apparently Florida is a good place to pick as there is no state sales tax there... I think New Hampshire is the same.

If you got offered a near brand spanking 32GB Wifi iPad for £475 delivered, it's a couple of weeks old and in the UK, would you?

Can't decide whether to wait for UK prices or get this and flog on the auction site if I change my mind in 2 weeks time!

I thought Florida had a sales tax

Guys, on ebay there was a guy claiming to know how to get 64GB UK spec iPad's, you had to pay £1 for the info, here is the email I got from him, wanted to know what you think;

"Thank you for your purchase on eBay for information on the UK spec Apple iPad 64gb wifi & 3G

I work for a UK electrical wholesaler who will be stocking UK spec iPads at the end of this month. The wholesaler is not open to the public, but I can as a member of staff buy at wholesale prices and ship one week before UK high street sales.

I am taking advance orders for UK spec 64gb wifi & 3G iPads priced at £475.00 (high street price will be around £540) with £10 fully insured FedEx shipping.

Due to eBay and PayPal rules I can not sell pre orders on eBay and take PayPal, so payment must be via cheque, bank transfer or Credit\Debit card. Any payment will be via the wholesaler’s commercial bank account which I am happy to send full details of. I have a verified PayPal account which I am happy to send details of.

If you would like to pre-order an UK spec iPad please email back, and how you would like to pay. "

Smells of scam.

And the confirmation for me is that alleged high street price for the 64GB 3G is less than it is in the USA (£550).

And when was the last time an Apple product was more in the USA than the UK?
Just knocked this up in Excel...

Very much doubt it'll be like that though!

Never.

I would agree with this as we all know we will be but raped for anything in the UK .

However I cant see theese selling like hot cakes if any of the models are in excess of £650 when launched , I am sure early adopters ect will buy but for that money I would rather have the portability of an I phone and a laptop wich could be purchased for less.

Where I do see them selling is if any of the Networks offer a contract with a hughley discounted price for 24 month contract for 3g versions, this is how most pepole now buy there I phones.

£400-£500 for the Wifi version and Apple are onto a winner
£500-£600 for the 3g version it will sell .

Any more and I feel Apple will have outpriced themselves . I feel the reality of it is it going to be costing anywhere from £499-£750 for the whole range when launched and will just be to much money.

I still want a 3g version though .

It's the price he claims the 64gb 3G model will be that makes me truly think it's a scam, I'm sure there are many people who would take payment outside of paypal who are not rip off merchants, though I'd be very suspicious, as that price is lower than the US price and I haven't seen any rocking horse **** lately.

yeah if he said that was for a 16 or 32gb model i would have been more convinced he was legit, the fact that he is quoting it for the top of the range model makes it suspicious, not only that he is knocking 50 quid off on top of it

To use a US Store, you first buy a gift card off ebay, then register with that gift card and complete as stated using what ever address, and then you keep buying gift cards externally through a trusted source off ebay (first transaction is on ebay)....

Feek might slap my hand for this so be quick before he deletes me.
