"We've bought your iPad [3G 64GB], and activated it on one of the Macs in the store. Nic's currently sat outside with it using Apple's WiFi"

Better not bloody scratch it!

EDIT: They also got me a iPad dock and iPad camera connection kit. From what I'd read online the camera connection kit has been pretty much out of stock everywhere!

That must be annoying

Any idea if the UK iPad app store will be active a few days earlier than the 28th. Good for us early us peeps. Want to get my Mits on iWork apps.

Yup!

I do like a good unboxing myself , but I'd rather it was opened and activated in the Apple Store as I read on MacRumors that some people had been getting duffers and others had loads of dead pixels. Would have been quite annoying to get it back here and then open it up to find it's a dead'un!

They just better not decide they want it for themselves instead!

EDIT:

Not exactly holding it very carefully! :(

You can buy apps on iTunes on a Mac or PC, but the device won't connect to the app store until the launch day/day before launch.

I'm still not certain we're going to get iBooks here at launch, it may be much later or never.

If you compare the UK and US iPad pages

http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/features/

http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/

on the left nav bar for the US store it has a link for iBooks, but this is missing in the UK version.

Also at the bottom of the page it says iBooks only available in the US.

I've a feeling they don't have international deals to sell the books anywhere apart from the US. Which will be a real pain as I wanted this for Tech books. May have to rely on Amazon Kindle app until this is resolved if it does turn out not to be available.

...stupid question time, when you pre-order from the Apple site, are they posted on the day of release, or a couple days before to get them delivered on the day?

...I get to have a couple weeks excited waiting!

It was announced the other day, we'll be getting the iBooks app and store on the 28th.

32GB 3G Ordered :) - Couldn't justify the extra 100 notes for the 64...

(its already too expensive tbh... but I couldn't resist :D)

Still don't have a good explanation why I want one when people ask :p

EDIT: heres a quick question... would a standard apple wireless keyboard (the one without the number pad) work with an iPad or do you have to get that one that integrates with the dock?

I wouldn't worry about space. My 32GB happens to be syncing now, and.....
