*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

So a question, what's the deal with getting videos from PC > iPad

do they need to be converted?

Easiest way is Air Video and it works brilliantly. If you want to convert them and copy them to the iPad then Handbreak is the way to go.

What PDF -> ePub converter are people using?

Tried Calibre and it just outputs the ePub in a crappy format with spacing everything and no images!

I've just used Calibre to convert a Sony LRF file to EPUB and it's got a few problems but nothing that doesn't mean I can't read it. I think I'll flog the Sony now.

Would a proper PDF reader not be a sensible option? There are plenty out there from free to quite a few quid. I'd be interested in recommendations on that.

Get GoodReader (Lite). The best PDF app I've seen so far. It has so many advanced features, like text wrapping, and I don't think you'd need anything else. On the iPad it will be incredibly good I would have thought.

which format do they need to be converted to?

If you use Handbrake to convert them so you have load them onto the iPad then you can use the Apple TV option or the Apple Universal option.

If you use Air Video then they never get put onto your iPad but converted on the fly and played on the iPad from your computer.

Here's an example of a HD source being played on the iPad via Air Video

Have got home form London, no iPad delivered today and no note through door.

Finally managed to get the reference number to work on teh TNT website and it says 'Please Call'

I've tried calling, for a while the phone rang out with no answer, now it just goes to the engaged sound.

Presume they've not had the time to deliver it today due to to many extra deliveries. Quite guttered, but hopefully I'll be able to pick up tomorrow.

Got mine today with the keyboard dock, loving it so far - can see it replacing the laptop (with a bit of careful thought).

FYI - if you go to BBC iPlayer via Safari, it now works on the iPad. Looks awesome.

theres just something about it that makes me not want to put it down, i want to take it everywhere and show it off :D it's just.... lovely

even though i have not done ONE productive or useful thing on it yet :p

but now my mum, dad and step father want one too

Was lucky enough to get my 3G one today. Went for the Voda £15 service, but even though I called to setup account, still get "no service"

Still, browsing is just amazing with wifi. Got so many apps don't know where to start!!

Finally managed to get through to TNT. They said that the iPad hadn't been received in the local office today as it had only arrived last night in the main hub in Coventry so it will now be shipped tomorrow to my house.

ho hum,, getting jealous of all you guys that have your to play with.
