All I can think is a possible driver issue as you're running Intel/nVidia and I'm on AMD/ATI

I have tried what you suggested by putting icons on both desktops but after a restart it still puts them all on the main monitor on the right.
what can't you find? columns UI? the import button? the .fcl file?

Go to File> Preferences. You should find "Columns UI" under "Display".
If it's not there, install it: http://yuo.be/columns.php
Installed Windows 7 Pro yesterday - must say that I'm very impressed
Much, much better than Vista was on release in Jan 2007 (I was also an early Vista user!). Some really nice useful features and easy to setup and customise. The install was painless and fast - very impressive!
