*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Just got a new microsim for my non-iphone tariff from a Vodafone store...iPhone is sat with No Service and Waiting for Activation on the screen :(

10 minutes and counting. How long does it usually take VF to swap over the SIM and the iPhone to activate?

Well I can return mine by July 8th and Im sitting here happy in the knowledge that if Apple don't sort out the antenna issue by then, then it is being returned! That is if I have the antenna issue, as O2 are being decidedly slow about transferring my sim across!!

Bowled into o2 to get my phone just now, they held me one because we're chummy.

Good news: eBay case fits spot on, £4 bargain wahey

Bad news: Mine does have the little yellow blob on the screen. Will have to line up a replacement, I'll ask them on Saturday.

Just cut down my old sim and put it in my '4 - works a treat although that signal loss is bloody awful! I only hold my phone with my thumb and middle finger with my index finger running up the back of the phone when I take calls and it seems even that causes the signal to drop...yikes!

Just curious, when I put my cut down sim in to the phone it said "phone activated"...does that mean I'm stuck using that one now or will it still transfer to the proper micro sim eventually?

O2 milton keynes

2 out of the 4 4g phones on display have yellow screens!

will be going back to the apple store this evening 3 hour wait lunchtime on pre orders!

Fyi, for those wondering, unlike some of the earlier US unboxings posted on YouTube previously the UK package DOES include a SIM ejector tool. :D

Imagine my surprise when I bought my 3G only to find no ejecter tool. To say I was frantically searching the house for a paperclip was an understatement.:p

My cut down sim doesn't work.

Sadly I think you'll be waiting a while as all the remaining stock everywhere (including Apple) is about gone. The Apple site states 14th July for the next shipping date.

So, even though theres a good chance you might get a faulty screen and your signal is rubbish if you hold it, you are still going to go and buy one later?

Blimey.

Same.

People at work keep asking me "LOL can your phone make phonecalls", but it's O2 being a pain right now!

Arghh I can't wait to get the iPhone 4, I'm so tempted to go into an o2 store and just take out a second contract and then do the early upgrade offer on the first contract and get rid of that! Otherwise I have to wait 2 weeks until I get paid :(

On another note, one of my colleagues got 2 iPhones and is selling one for about double the original price and is pretty confident he will get that. I can understand wanting the new phone but anyone who is willing to pay double face value for it deserves a punch in the face...

Not sure if you've read this in this thread - but someone previously posted that, although some of the screens are showing blobs of yellow and what not - apparently, it is because it is very new from the manufacturing process and hasn't has its "cooling-down" period...

Apparently, within two days or so, the blob will disappear.

I'll try and find the post for you :)

Arndale was completely mad this morning, there must have been a few hundred people there. Glad i was in the reservation line, got in and out quicker :p

That sounds like a punt in the dark but it would be nice if it is the case, one of the two killer issues out of the way :)

Ok iPhone 4 order, hurray! I hope its here tomorrow...

Can anyone send me the link to the page where I can get the iPhone unlocked by o2?

Stelly

Mine arrived at midday :)

The Vodafone micro sim worked perfectly even though it said ipad on the packaging!

No screen or signal problems, just fitted a Zagg front and back not going to bother with sticking the other Zagg stuff on the satinless band.

The restore from my original 3gs backup worked 100%

Added imovie to my apps too!

Happy days

Here's the quote about the screen fixing itself...

EnGadget.com said:
Apple is using a bonding agent called Organofunctional Silane Z-6011 to bond the layers of glass. Apparently, Apple (or more likely Foxconn) is shipping these products so quickly that the evaporation process is not complete. However, after one or two days of use, especially with the screen on, will complete the evaporation process and the yellow “blotches” will disappear.

How do I know? I was involved in pitching Z-6011 to Apple.
