£500 of my hard earned money for that??
Seriously??

No mention of RAM.......
Is it still 512MB.....?

Seri-ously?

Making one line troll posts that bring nothing to the discussion?

Seriously?

Macbook Pro Refresh - Same design, internal speedbump
iMac Refresh - Same design, internal speedbump
Macbook Air Refresh - Same design, internal speedbump
Mac Mini Refresh - Same design, internal speedbump
iPod Refresh - Same design, internal speedbump
iPhone Refresh - Same design, internal speedbump

What is Mr Ive working on...

They all have the same external look but as for just an internal speedbump - From the teardowns I've seen they all look massively different internally. That's far more than just a speedbump. If the external design works, which it clearly does as there's nothing out there which can touch any of those items you've mentioned for looks then why change them?

I say again, if the device today had exactly the same specs but was in a different case and called an iPhone 5 then people would be filling their knickers. But because it looks the same, it's automatically not much of a change and therefore crap, right?

I'll be getting one, the extra capacity means I'll dump my iPod, fit an A2DP head unit in the car and finally store my music on my iPhone.

great, why not get a phone that can take a new fangled thing called a micro-sd card? ooppss nope Apple don't like that kind of flexibility

They never have and they never will. Why should that bother me? My iPod is on the way out, I can either spend a couple of hundred quid on a replacement or go with a single device. No brainer really.

Yeah,

Have you seen the people that buy apple products?

They will buy a turd if its branded with an apple logo

Don't be absurd. Are you seriously suggesting that people would buy faeces if it had an Apple logo on it?

To coin a phrase...

Seriously?

Don't tar everyone with the same brush. I know many people who buy Apple products, I've never seen anyone like some of the muppets in the videos that people keep bandying about of store openings and the such.

Keep this thread on topic. It's about the iPhone 4S.

What are people actually buying then? A faster phone than a iphone 4? a lifestyle?

They are buying into BS....Its dated tech that offers nothing over current GEN phones.

Tech doesn't work this way....If its not faster lighter or smarter then why buy it other than for the brand?

You must have been listening to a different lot of feeds to me then because I heard about a new device, completely redesigned internally with a new faster CPU, better graphics, improved camera, better battery life and the ability to run all the features of the new OS.

All an improvement over the current existing device.

Oh dear, it looks the same. Funnily enough, I like the form factor and it'll fit into my TomTom cradle.

So it's a better device and it fits my current accessories.

And you're asking why I'm going to get one?

*walks away shaking head in amazement*

This is what amazes me

Not one of you apple fans has displayed disappointment for such a dull release.

You defend it to the death!

This is my point

I didn't look at any rumours beforehand, I very rarely do these days as they tend to be rubbish.

I saw a product that will suit me, it'll suit my requirements.

I wasn't disappointed because I had no preconceptions. It's an upgrade to what I've currently got.

Not in the mobile phone market.

Hang on, let me get this right.

Are you saying that people who buy mobile phones are more tech savvy, ie they know what CPU/GPU their devices have?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *breathe* hahahahahahahahahahaha

If you ask the average man in the street what the CPU in his computer is, he'll probably glaze over and say "dunno, Intel inside?". Some might actually know, but most people won't.

Ask anyone what CPU their mobile phone has got and they'll look at you as though you're an idiot because the average Joe probably doesn't even realise his phone has a CPU, never mind a GPU in a smartphone.

As for screen resolutions.

"Hey, Mr. Average man in the street, what's the screen resolution of your [insert smartphone name here]?"

"Er, dunno, three inches".

It's a phone. 99% of the population don't care.

I have friends with iPhones who bought them and like them but they don't use them for anything other than calls and texts. They don't email because they don't care, it's a nice phone they can text from or use Facetime to talk to their kids. People who aren't techies just don't care.

And I don't buy Apple because I believe other products are cheaper, have better or equivalent specs and suit my digital life just as seamlessly...
I can fiddle if I wish....but then you wouldn't know being locked into your Apple way eh? Each to their own son....argue away....

Let me think back over the years I've had an iPhone and see if I can remember any situations where I've been frustrated by things I couldn't do on it because of it being locked down.

I'm struggling.

Nope, can't think of one. I've always been able to do what I wanted.

Back at you - Argue away....

..snip..
They will but they will know simple stuff like whether it does 1080p video etc

Bet they don't.

"Does your phone do 1080p?"

"Errrrrm, it says it does haitch dee." (a small piece of me dies inside)

"Is that 720p or 1080p?"

*blank look*

"haitch dee"

Again, blokey bloke in the street neither knows nor cares about the difference between 720p and 1080p. He can't even pronounce 'aitch'.

These fall into badge wearers

No they don't, in fact thinking about my non techy mates who have iPhones, they all fall into the group of people who were given the option of an iPhone at upgrade time and went for it. Most have 3GSs, one has an iPhone 4 and nobody uses them to the fullest. None of them have bothered to update to the latest OS their devices support and I know that none of them bother to even connect them to iTunes for backups every now and again. They're decent average blokes, certainly not fanboys or badge wearers.

Man in the street doesn't give a flying toss.

He wants a device that works and can play Angry Birds.

you're to much of a fanboy to argue with, heck u deleted 2 threads so you could be the first to post the 4s!

For your info, I deleted two threads that had been posted (and locked by a different mod) before the new device had even been officially announced. You should see the number of RTMs that had been received about those two threads.

You edit my post's and delete me and this is all you can muster?

With respect I had to snip your post

It didn't make any sense.

It was like a contrived script to backup a non existent argument tbh.

I haven't edited anyones posts. I've deleted off topic rubbish that was totally irrelevant to discussion about the iPhone 4S.

My post made perfect sense, perhaps you should do basic comprehension next year.

You're sailing very close to the wind in this thread. I'm getting really fed up with it going round and round in circles and judging by the number of times your posts are getting reported, I'm not the only one.

Here's the pricing as shown on the Apple Store iPhone app, I grabbed the image this morning.

People keep asking where the prices are confirmed, I couldn't see them on the Apple website but it's clear enough from the app.

That's obviously the sim free and unlocked price.

Just checked my iTunes folder:

Music is 37GB so if I wanted all my music on there I'd have to get a 64GB phone.

That's Apple Lossless though so I could get a 32GB, compress the songs and still have room for apps etc.

Hmmmm...

Most of mine is in Apple Lossless, my main library is nearly 120Gb but I ticked the 'convert to 128k' box and that 120Gb compresses down to around 30Gb on my iPad. Much as I like lossless on my computer I don't feel that having 128k files on my iDevice is a problem.
