Well I installed comodo internet security on my new laptop and thus far I'm not impressed since after I went through the reboot after installation it first decided it didn't trust any of the ATI programs that are needed for the graphics and put them into the sandbox and then when I was getting shot of another piece of pre-installed garbage (norton online backup) it decided to flag one of the pre-installed games as a virus (it might've just been a heuristic detection but it shouldn't have been) had I had to report it as a false positive.

I'm going to keep at it but if it gives me any more grief then it's all for the chop and I'll just install avast in it and just keep the firewall elements of comodo installed.

Not too impressed with Comodo here either, more false positives and other issues than I care to remember, including 427 C:\Windows\Temp\CAV****.tmp files named as HeurPacked.Unknown[at]-1 within my HTPC?

And no there is nothing else security wise on that HTPC, all other software had been removed and CCleaner ran before installing/updating Comodo and getting the above false positives which the Comodo forum guru's have yet to identify.

Does not seem to be recognised by Windows either as it seems to be popping up in the solve PC issues that Comodo is not on when it is?

Two Command and Conquer titles failed to install and patch, as it seemed that Comodo denied files related to my EA games without asking me, that may be why they would not install/patch?

Those .tmp files actually from comodo (CAV = comodo anti-virus) so you should have run CCleaner after installing CIS (although it should've done its own housekeeping and removed its own temp files).

Hi guys, I believe my friend has a virus in his pc, he doesnt use any av at all. can i install avast onto an infected pc? or should i try and clean it first?

If you can install Avast onto it then yeah go for it, I dont see how you'd clean it without putting something on! unless you mean format it?

Hi
I think I have a nasty virus on my computer, basically I keep getting popups telling me I have been infected by a trojan or somethingand I cant open any programs with a message appearing and telling me my computer is infected, then a scan automatically starts and when I try and start up windows explorer,it brings me to a site where It tries to sell me anti virus software. Also sometimes when I restart my computer in normal mode I dont get any popups or any warnings and everything seems fine

also I cant seem to get on the internet (Im currently using my 3 dongle) but whenever I plug in my eternet cable it wont connect, even though when I plug the ethernet cable into my sister laptop it works fine,it wont even connect in safe mode.

please help
thanks

On windows7, I seem to have just had a rather odd update to MSE, definitions update, which seemed to equate to a 58.7MB download.
I assume it was a versioning update rather than just definition, but oddly named none-the-less.

My versions are now:
Security Essentials Version: 2.0.522.0
Antimalware Client Version: 3.0.8007.0
Engine Version: 1.1.6301.0
Antivirus definition: 1.93.1529.0
Antispyware definition: 1.93.1529.0
Network Inspection System Engine Version: 2.0.5850.0
Network Inspection System Definition Version: 8.49.0.0

Any thoughts on the new AVG Free 2011? I've always used AVG, but over the years it has slowly got bigger and more bloated. I'm currently on version 8.5, and was wondering whether to try the new 2011 free version or go for something else like MSE, Avast or Avira.

Is the new AVG Free 2011 an improvement over previous versions or should I just go for one of the others I mentioned?
