The AMD Driver Thread

Whats the best driver stable wise for 5700XT Nitro, all these new ones im having issues black screen, crashes. Warzone Ani Lag stutters like crazy anyone be able to help?

Hey there, to add to what SonicSW20 was asking, could you let us know which is the latest driver where you're not seeing this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Connecting two displays with large differences in resolution/refresh rates may cause flickering on Radeon RX Vega series graphics products.

I have been getting an issue similar to this on my 6800XT using 21.5.1. Playing a video on the 60hz screen whilst working on the 120hz causes the video to stutter to high heaven.

I don't have issues with video stutter on dual screens but I still get driver crashes all the time, been going on for months/years.

At least it's improved now that the drivers are at least better at catching the issue and just crash/restart the drivers, before it would just lock up or hard reboot/BSOD reboot.
So some progress I guess.
Though I did get a pink screen and a hard reboot on the 21.5.1 drivers.

Firefox streaming twitch on 2nd monitor and then doing various things can trigger it, using Discord, or Steam client, or Epic client.
Just had it again not even doing anything, just watching Twitch and having Steam friends list up and Discord open.

Lost count of the number of bug reports sent.

Had it on my old i7 3770k setup and on my new Ryzen setup, starting to think my Vega 64 is just dying but it's fine in games, bench marks etc.
Or maybe PSU, as the Vega and PSU are the only bits that came over to the new build but again, PC is fine in stress tests and other usage.

Just this, almost repeatable, issue when streaming video and using dual screens.

Monitor 1 : 1440p @144Hz DP
Monitor 2 : 1080p @120Hz DP
HDMI out to A/V amp for Dolby Atmos audio. Shows as 1080p/60 monitor 3, or pass through to 4k Samsung TV for couch gaming.

Any suggestions I see are always 'disable x', so things like Enhanced sync, freesync, h/w acceleration etc etc and though some seem to help for a bit, it never quite goes away.

Hi Thanks for the getting back to me my system is Ryzen 5 3600 and 5700 XT Nitro SE. Ive never had no issues with my system up until now with the drivers that havent went well are

  • 21.2.3
  • 21.3.1
  • 21.3.2
  • 21.4.1
  • 21.5.2 after testing today

Just Poor performance over with Stuttering with anti-lag enabled on especially in warzone, black screens then crashes with driver error timeouts, freesync not working etc Seen on reddit others have also been having some issues with 5700 XT.

Curently rolled back now to 20.11.2 and its buttery smooth without any issues at all :(

Hey there, thank you so much for the information. We will look into this.

If you get the time, could you please private message me with the rest of your system specs in a format like below:
  • Motherboard:
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • PSU:
  • Display(s):
  • System Memory:
  • GPU (VBIOS): Sapphire Nitro+ SE RX 5700XT (VBIOS: )
  • OS (Version): Windows 10 x64 (Version: 19041.264) how do I find this?
  • Radeon Software Settings: Instant Replay ON, Anti-Lag ON, Radeon Image Sharpening ON, Enhance Sync ON
Many thanks in advance!

Try the following, it's worked for me in the past:

Go into your AppData/Local/AMD/CN and delete your gmdb.blb, then restart the program or relog/restart your PC to have your Radeon Settings launching again.

Seems to be working fine now, thanks.

Having a nitemare with my 6900XT on fortnite.

I play competative settings and would love to play performance mode but regardless what settings i use i get constant hitches and what feels like frame drops.

when i check the gpu usage it seems the card just drops frequency randomly for a split second and then back up but that is causing the issues.

I have seen others on redit that are complaining too.

Now i have tried adjusting the minimum clock speed to 2000 and 2200 with no difference whatsoever.

Performance mode the clocks dont go over 500mhz so its terrible to play to the point ive got my 1060 6gb in my system now and its perfectly fine with no issues.

If you want a chance at some proper help then full system specs including windows version and buildnr. are required as a minimum. I hope the issue can be solved for you. I can't speak for Fortnite as I don't play that game but 95% of my issues have been with windows itself which is why I'm running a slipstreamed/cleaned version of it. Win 10 is actually tolerable now.

Its the very latest build and has had a full fresh windows install only done yesterday.

All the drivers are the very latest running 5900X, B550i Gaming with latest bios 750w platinum Corsair PSU.

Hey there, I'm sorry you're having issues with Fortnite, let me take a look into this for you.

I may follow up with you via private message for more information if that's alright?

Okay, some routine questions to get them out of the way.
1) Do these issues only happen in Fortnite?
2) Are you running any sort of 3rd party software like control panels for your mouse/keyboard or headphones? or monitoring software like afterburner?
3) Have you done an "sfc /scannow"?
4) Are you using any of the Radeon settings like chill, enhanced sync, anti lag, boost, etc etc. ?

Yes that’s fine
Just to make a quick observation, out of interest, does Fortnite behave any differently for you when run in DX12 mode?

I understand it's still in beta, and I'm not suggesting you run it that way permanently, but it would help give me a clearer idea of what could be going on.

You should be able to find that option in the 'Advanced Graphics' settings.

Cheers

Its very much the same in all dx11, dx12 and performance mode.

I had zero issues with my vega 56 in performance mode or dx12 and always ran at full clocks without the stutters/clock drops.

I've installed 21.5.2 just to find I can no longer use the Instant replay or record features with my keyboard, If I open the software I can turn them on there but that's not right or useful for quick captures..

Unless you need 21.5.2 i would try a roll back to see if it restores the functions, but before that use the bug report in the drivers to report it.

Planning out ponying up for a 6700 XT soon but my main concern is drivers... how are they as I had a very bad experience with the 5700 XT I once owned?

There not bad imo the drivers for the 6700xt, few things missing in latest in the video section but seem ok for games etc i think. Better than the vega 56 pulse i used to have, even the missing textures when driving fast in gta 5 disappeared when i moved to this from the vega, and i thought it was a old cpu issue where i had to fix with changing cpu priority to above normal, dont need it now with the 6700xt. :)

My 5700 non-XT ran without any problems no matter the driver, even when bios modded with an XT bios. My current 6700XT is working perfectly as well and i've only had a few crashes but that was due to a bad mount with the cooler which is now solved and no crashes since.
